RE: Whitespace new update16 Nov 2025 11:20
From AI:-
Aside from the publication of their Armed Forces Covenant on November 10, 2025, several other announcements regarding Whitespace (Belfast) and the Ministry of Defence (MOD) have been published throughout 2025.
Key publications include:
Strategic Partnership with Defence Holdings PLC:
Whitespace entered a significant strategic partnership, Defence Technologies, with Defence Holdings PLC (ALRT), a UK-listed software-led defence company.
This was formalised in August and September 2025.
The collaboration focuses on co-developing sovereign Artificial Intelligence (AI) systems for national security applications.
Their first joint product, "Project Ixian" (focused on information integrity), is already under development for the MOD and is considered an operationally classified program.
The goal is to deliver AI capabilities at speed and scale to challenge foreign incumbents in the defence tech space.
MOD's "Engine for Growth" Initiative:
In May 2025, Whitespace announced they had joined the MOD's new "Engine for Growth" initiative, a major reform package designed to accelerate innovation and streamline procurement processes for cutting-edge UK technology.
Deployment of "Tarkin" AI Tool:
Whitespace's AI open source intelligence tool, "Tarkin", is set to be deployed with enhanced security classifications for further use by the UK MOD in 2025, building on previous evidence submissions to Parliament regarding its capabilities.
The platform is already in use within classified environments, including a UK naval vessel.
These publications highlight Whitespace's increasing integration into the UK defence ecosystem, focusing heavily on AI-driven data and intelligence solutions.
