Is this likely to drop long term? I think a fairly safe 'No'

Where else are you likely to get a similar return mid/long term?

Fair enough, Trout, I was just making the general point that some people seem to that RNS's are things the directors can play with at will.

I personally think that news of the cash landing in the bank justifies an RNS as it's an actual increase in the value of the company, rather than an expected one.

An RNS isn't a discretionary thing, released for maximum convenience or impact. The clue is in the "R" bit. If there's something to report that meets the requirements then it has to be reported immediately, it's not like they can 'save them up' for more gain rather than 'waste' them at quiet times.
