Marcus, the problem is that the shares are £3 and dropping. I honestly don't care what contracts they have if

1. It's not refkected in the share price

2. They perform badly from a customer/user point of view.

Don't want to be too negative, I am a long term holder who wants to see sustained price rise, but this pension debacle does worry me. I don't believe Capita are blameless in this. It looks as though it is going to severely impact awards of other government contracts.

Ytee, you must imagine that people are sitting on an infinite amount of cash just ready to buy more every time Capita drops . Some of us have bought so many in order to average down that we have created a significant risk.

Maybe 2 benefits to ftse 250, and one is not a price increase. Absolutely nothing happened last time.

1. brokers like freetrade stopped making this share available to purchase for customers who don't pay, I assume FTSE250 will make these shares available again, so bigger pool of people able to trade

2. The higher you go the more difficult to manipulate, FTSE100 had a lot more scrutiny for example.

Heatseek, not sure what to make of your post. CPI is down over 50% not up 18% but 18% in 5 years is not a big gain. Would have got far more in the bank especially with compound interest and inflation is according to BOE 28% over the 5 years (although I reckon it is at least double that in reality) so 18% gain would actually be a loss in real terms.

Being patient it is not working.

I recall when the SP went below 100p and I though that it would easily get back above £1. The same happened when it was hovering around 50p for a quite while and then 20p seemed to be the ceiling, Now we are finding it difficult to break 14p.

Patience is simply an excuse. Every time it looks like it might break out another negative thing happens and pushes the share price down further No company should be on a downward trend for 10 years.

I have had patience and I totally regret it, I wish I had sold out years ago!

JO hope you are right, but experience tells me the following.

The RNS will come out

People will initially say looks good

Price will then drop

People will then say its not a good update, doesn't give enough detail and there are the one offs that are hiding the real situation.

They will then say one of 2 things

1. This will come good next update

2. This is one to tuck away for 18 months.

You may disagree but that has been my experience after nearly every update (there may have been a couple where it rose but soon dropped lower again)

I think the issue is that for a very long time people have been saying this is one to tuck away and in 2 years it will come good. Trouble is that it never comes good and the 2 years never arrives. I am heavily invested and I am at a point where I have mentally accepted that I will never see my money again. If I do, ideal but nothing about the share price indicates that the future looks rosy. Yes it goes up on the odd occasion an sometime quite rapidly, but both the highs are getting lower.

I think £1 by xmas was a bit tongue in cheek, but 20p is proving to be quite a barrier.

I have had these shares for about 8 years and need to really get to 50p just to break even after inflation, but if it gets to 30p I am out and won't be investing in the stock market again as I firmly believe the deck is stacked against the private investor

Terry, when you say it was 130p when JL took over I make it 279.71p according to Google, I am using the date of 1st December 2017 as the date shown on Capita.com.

I have had children start secondary school and leave while I have waited for this to turn around. No established company should require this much patience.

Maybe they have the wrong KPIs. Surely one KPI should be the share price or Market Cap.

For me, the issue is one of trust. Nothing that Jon Lewis has promised has happened. On paper it appears to be a turn around but the reality is that the share price has dropped more than 80% since he took over. I preferred it when they had more debt my shares were worth much more! The cyber incident was not really a big deal but they turned it into one . They should have held their hands up and then the news could only got better, instead they declared it as a triumph and the news only got worse.

Its easy to blame the Times for Capita bashing but they had this story handed to them on a plate.

I truly believed we were on the up recently but my hopes have been dashed again. The FTSE rerating was looking a dead cert now it looks ever unlikely.

This is the opposite of the gift that keeps on giving.

I see the same statements appearing now after every share price decline, "only so many months to the next results and then things will be good".

Very depressed. :-(

I have been on a wild goose chase that has included the Ventures, the Surfaris, a 6 year old drummer, compilations of guitar solos, while my guitar gently weeps with Prince getting carried away and culminating with Beyonce the Tank Engine. If you haven't seen that Beyonce video it's worth watching.

Because ab121 you could have very large revenue but also very large expenses and actually make a loss.
Amazon had revenues of $1.6 billion in 1999, but still managed to lose $719 million.

FTSE was flat, I dint see this as just floating up on a rising pound

The worst thing is I want trying to be negative.. I was simply asking why based on history do people expect a trading statement to push the price up. To my knowledge it never has yet in the last 8 years or so. Often a statement is released, people immediately say its looking good, then the share price tanks. Sometimes there are dramatic rises with CPI but often out of the blue, not related to a trading statement.

I want them to rise, I just dont have any confidence that a trading statement will cause that rise, certainly not a sustained rise. For me the only thing that will create some movement is an on offer/takeover bid.

The other catalyst might be to actually see the debt fall in line with the non core businesses sold off, to date it feels as though the sell of are helping it stay afloat as opposed to reducing debt substantially.

Lastly a dividend may help to create some interest.

Genuine question. Why do you think a trading statement will make any difference? None of the previous ones have, in fact they often have caused a decrease in share price, even when the company thought that the statement was positive.
