I cannot understand the slow erosion of this. No news either way and yet we continue to drop almost everyday.

The closer we get to the market close the more nervous people will become and start to unload. I have just topped up and will do again if it goes sub 1.9p. Yes its a 50/50 bet but there is plenty of things going on that no one is privy too.

Have they just upped their stake?

Whilst they have gained the consent form bond holders, they haven't mentioned as to which deal or affect the on shareholders. The Bod said there were multiple options for them to take, 'However, certain of these options - if they materialise - would result in no equity value for the company's current shareholders'.

So whilst some people are saying its 'dooms day', they have no idea what the Bod have actually got consent on!

Look through the fear mongering and see the facts as written in black and white, we dont know whats going on in the back ground so just wait and see. If people want out then fine, but dont be shouting from outside!

Now Debs Bod have their leverage to force a bigger bid from MA. They have secured their future, just wait for MA’s response.

Smartie - MA has had access to the books for an extended period of time. If he has been keen on Deb for a long period of time I highly doubt he has gone into this without a clear plan of action which might have been altered with the access to the books. There’s no way he has got to where he is without planning well in advance of making a move. This is of course different to most of his deals as it is indeed a rushed time period, which has been forced upon him. Then question is, when will he ever have a better time at getting Deb for a discounted price and be the sole party bidding. If it goes into admin then he cannot be sure of obtaining any of it.
It’s fascinating to watch and have a stake in this. People on this board have listed numerous ways and changes that can be done to make this profitable again. Yes it’s a big upfront costing for him, however it could pay off massively.

Smartie2 - Then surely a fresh start with a MA takeover would be a better outcome? He clearly has a very specific plan and outlook on the future of Deb with the funding to do what is required to get it there. I don’t think the same can be said for the Bod. There need to be major changes to Deb that cannot be done whilst there is so much power division & uncertanty.
I get that MA doesn’t have the best PR right now, as a football fan I have always disliked him. However there is no doubting the man knows what he is doing. He is a self made billionaire who has made his name from the retail industry, who clearly has a long term vision and goal. Who are we to doubt him, unless of course any of you are also billionaires, in which case wtf are you doing here?!!!!

Show me a record that say Jeff Bezos is qualified to run Amazon, he was just a book shop owner.

Do I believe MA is the perfect man for the job, no.
Do I believe the board are good for the future of Debenhams, no.
But this is simply at the moment between those two parties, that’s why I titled it ‘lesser of two evils’. This board has made MA look more than qualified.

What I’m failing to understand is why the bond holders would support a refinance. Yes the company gets a new allocation of funding but without major fundimental changes it will fail anyway. The board have already shown what they have attempted to do has failed over the last 18 months.
There needs to be major changes to this companies operating procedures and structure in order to make it a viable prospect for the future. We haven’t once heard about how the board aim to turn this titanic around, they have just said they don’t want MA.
Surely it’s best for everyone if it is an MA takeover, which would bring about major changes and actually breath some life back into it. There’s clearly more market confidence behind MA that the current board.
Re financing - guaranteed death of Deb just pushed down the line a bit further
MA takeover - people walk away with something and the business stands a chance.

Would be interested to hear people’s opinions on this as of course there is more than one way to look at it.

What does it mean?

No news is neither bad or good, it is simply no news. Everyone can of course interpret it differently however to me it would indicate continuing negotiations, so that when they do release another RNS it will indicate something of substance. If people are unloading now for a small profit then fair enough, to me I see no reason to do anything other than sit and wait.

This is only a small part of my portfolio, it would be crazy to put anything large behind this. But there is no reward without risk, so dont risk what you cant afford.

As much as everyone has decided that the end of it, there is still a lot more time to go. Better than anything on tv! I will reload a small amount again should it hit 2.8p because I believe this takeover will go through, however that is just my opinion! Till boom or bust I will be holding

Seems strange there isnt any major movement with the prospect of the results potentially coming out this week. I suppose the biggest give away to good/bad news coming the next day is a huge late buy/sell.

Just watching the stock price level out, everyone just waiting for the next turn on this crazy roller coaster. Come on MA!! Do not quite know how the BOD will survive any outcome of this, they got us into this mess!
