It is very clear to most that Assurances were given by NNPC to both Essar and COPL that there would be no issues with the Extension Essar would have been guilty of grossly failing Due Diligence had they signed the binding agreement with COPL without such Assurance.
Now,should the Nigerians renege on their promise,all Hell would be let loose.Not only would noone consider making agreements with them,but also it would cause serious Diplomatic damage to Ido Nigerian relations.
