And remove BT's burden of having to fund it!
Should have been at least 10p rise today! Lack of it highlights BT's other problems. Come on SP
Was todays announcement to try and save breaking below 200?
Hardly the rise I expected on the news of Gavs overdue departure. I hope the rise then drop was shorts closing and we see 210+ very soon
Youre not the only one humdrum. Pension sorted, well Trustees happy. And Italy wasnt even a loss just an exaggerated profit call. As said revenue, if anything up, from SP high. And dept is not only common but encouraged from large companies. Patterson/ofcom only reason sentiment is keeping this down imho
I want and expect a rise, but its not going anywhere so maybe a quick drop will be a catalyst for change and remove whats making this tread water. Looks like market is also waiting too
Either rise or fall but do something soon BT! At least a fall would instigate a new CEO a buyout or both!
I would say value of BT minus debt and deficit is at least 50bn! Meaning SP should be 5
Got a link Froggy?
Quality is better than quantity and I worry that just employing 6000 more 'engineers' will help! Going back to the days when staff were allowed to take a Christmas holiday, it was well known that during this time faults dropped dramatically. The reason being nobody was working to cause more faults being generated whilst clearing others. The extremely poor training afforded new staff then sending them into the network has resulted in a self perpetuating rise in faults and throwing more into the fray is not a good idea
Correct. I forgot about that. FTTC and fttp only go to the 'main' exchanges. So you are right the majority of rural exchanges can be successfully sold off along with all the copper. An example would be in my rural area Only three are used for FTTC out of over fifty exchanges
Ducts to exchanges mainly carry copper. FTTC means no more BB exchange equipment. FTTP has a battery back up to allow calls during a power cut. Business multi phone systems already run over fibre. Exchange equip, the distribution frame and all local copper cable will be gone within 7 years with huge savings. My point is with this knowledge it is a pity fttp and fttc wasnt installed to a central point other than exchanges with hindsight. Although as said shutting down 98% of every building will be a saving
Again...not talking of buildings when referring to 'exchanges closing" but the actual equipment. VoIP or mobile is the future for landlines. Given this it is a shame the new fibre kit is being installed in buildings that will then only be 2% used
Ascoyne. Didnt make it clear my mistake. By exchanges I meant the actual hardware for traditional voice calls not buildings are to be redundant. Everything will be fttp or FTTC. Only thing left in the buildings will be backhaul. Most buildings are huge having contained old strouger and other outdated equipment. Some even had operators and many other control, planners etc. Currently only 10% at most of all buildings are being used. Staff moved to out of city quarters last year. Point is if somewhat thought it through then all the new kit should have been installed in new premises as that 10% will soon be 2%. Hell of a waste of expensive real estate and upkeep. BT tried to rent out wasted space years ago but failed. Just an opinion, but old exchange hardware will be gone in 7 years regardless
Being told internally that exchanges to all close within 7 years Pity then that they have installed all the new kit in the same exchanges rather than on an industrial estate out of town centres so they could then sell them off! Never thinking forward unfortunately
Where can you see UC trade figures?
Cheets = cheers
Duke. Where you the one who posted before about the UT representing oversold and needs to bea lot lower to signify a change in direction? If so can you explain as I though the UT was just missed trades and will always be high for BT given it’s daily high volumes? Cheets
Yes and thats just OR! Makes the current SP a joke
Todays rise on the back of a leaked takeover bid...coincidence? Or is it a hoax released to counter the flack on Gavins bonus fiasco? Or is the takeover bid the first of more good news to take the SP even higher that will genuinely excuse Gavins bonus? Welcome to the Twilight Zone...lol Ps. Got a knock on the head today that resulted in a trip to A&E
