Perhaps, but even Mr Buffett can't value a Tech company. Last year ARM made profits and WOLFSON made a huge loss. missing out on APPLE contracts. On the basis of a lower PE I'm supposed to dump a TESCO and buy into the local KwickiMart? -- Talk it up guys.

Just before I swapped my ARM shares for WOLFSON as suggested by their pointy heads, I got my sonic screwdriver and unzipped an IPAD to count the WOLFSON chips ... H'mm strange none , but 7 ARM chips. Still clever guys at Citigroup, so did the same to an IPHONE and some Android phones for good measure .. strange to say no Wolfson.

WB says the Stock Market is where the impatient give their money to the patient ... We have seen this strange selling of AIT prior to a CR before, I used to think they must be forced sellers, The portfolio on their website is well out of date so perhaps it's day traders punting on changes in the NAV, who knows? Crunch time is when the back-dated rundown fees kick in after CR (4). Yes, just you, me and the directors going by the traffic on this website... Hope we haven't got this horribly wrong!

This one popped up on my radar a while back, FT article I think. might buy a few. Like the sound of patents, that's how ARM & IMG make money. What I like about ARM is it's in everything. The chips that used to power the 'brick' mobiles of the '80's now go in car braking systems for example. We're only taking a few pence a chip, (7 chips in an IPAD = 30p) but a chip licensed now could be controlling my wheelchair in 20/30 years time. As a a non-earner I can only put 2880 in a SIPP, HMG adds 720. This is my 2nd year with it.

But I had Ibought TSCO back-to back- with ARM to hedge my bet.. .When I took stock late 2008 I was surprised to find BG was up 500% since privatisation and TSCO had doubled. About then I re-read 'The Warren Buffett Way' , (my wife had bought me some years earlier), it and it made sensce - When I was long I was strong , but the quick buck had always elluded me.. I sold ALL the rest of my 'Free' bank shares after Northern Rock fell, a brave decision at the time. ..

Why not download SIPP times from HL and DYOR ? You may be able to put cash in this year and get 40/50% added by HMG upfront. I treat mine just like an ISA put cash in, buy shares, no funds/schemes. I presume your other pensions are static. You could use it for a 'coward' portfolio.

My 2 biggest are ARM & IMG held for years, slimmed down in 2008, doubled in Spring last year. Will check out your tiddler Tech. I'm selling ARM when WB sells Coke., Mr Buffet's upped his stake in TSCO last month and he always buys at a disc. to value, Looking to double my TSCO too. NO Banks, No AIM except for tiny punts in my SIPP. Big in AZN BG BLt BP CEY CNA NG. SSE TSCO, a few DGE, DRX and NCC. Agree with you about SA, Long on Gold & the Doller, short pound & EURO. Fear the Dark Side, (double dip) will hold cash in my ISA this year except for TSCO & AIT. Have you got a SIPP?

In another life I was in IT and if you want I would be happy to give an opinion on any company... I'm using my ISA in stocks & shares this year, but will have a more cautious/defensive approach this time, now the FTSE100 is at 5700..

I assume you won't know until it's liquidated. About 60% loss on my original holdind outside ISA/SIPP at present.
