Re your 21.51 post Dr . Here is the composition of Town or Coal gas.
Composition
The composition of coal gas varied according to the type of coal and the temperature of carbonisation. Typical figures were:
hydrogen 50%
methane 35%
carbon monoxide 10%
ethylene 5%
Hi Mjallen
re your Wed 10.17 post. Yes , that is fare comment . I would also expect future costs to come down but the FIRST cost is crucial and so far nothing has been announced about how Peel is doing raising this. They certainly wont be supplying all this themselves. We can only hope an announcement will be made soon. I wont be putting any more investment in until I see that.
Thanks for your16.28 update from Protos Kenny. This following the RNS from PHE IS good news. It would be useful to know if this FEED finalised design spec for the FOAK DMG includes the full 2 tonne of hydrogen per day previously suggested. Un surprisingly, the estimated cost ( should it not be exact by now?) has gone up from £12-15 M to £20M. It would also be of interest to know if fuel cells will be included in this cost that will use up some of the hydrogen when not required for sale. Some may remember there was an MOU to buy a Fuel cell from AFC to try out but that seems to have been kicked into the very long grass. The other rather pressing need is for news of Peel raising this £20. Most of the posts I have seen here assume this is a formality once this FEED ( can anyone tell me what "front end" means? ) has been now completed. Please forgive me that I am not so confident. Patience is a virtue but that is beginning to wear thin after more than a year of waiting. It is time for Peel to get it's big guns blazing at the financial institutions as well as digging into their own pockets.
Re your Monday 8.22 post Heading North. Always interesting to see what others ,especially the "big boys" are doing. They don't say how they are producing the hydrogen though which is of most interest to us. It could be from renewable solar and wind, so hydrogen is only an energy storage medium.
I have rung my broker to ask if they will cast my proxy vote since I am told I am not able to do this myself on the Proxy form as having a broker means I have a "nominee" account . As far as I can see the form is NOT provided on the circular posted ether on the PHE site or the RNS on The LSE site in any case. They say they will do it for a fee of £20. This will obviously be very small change to the high rollers on this board but still significant to me with my (still) small investment.
In this case we don't have much choice but to vote for the resolutions . It is vote YES or else! In politics , even in a forgone conclusion, we are free to vote as a protest. In the investment world it seems democracy comes at a price.
Yes NLleroy. Rather depessingly inevitable. Any long term development will need massive government investment which wont be forthcoming now we are in survival mode. Lets hope trains and truck ( and possibly boats) do get some backing for hydrogen.
A good point about liquid oxygen however. Why not use that for greater efficiency having produced it from electrolysis? . Well Ok extra tank space I guess, but at high altitude this could help. tally ho into space!
I didn't say present jet engines could be used . I am only going by what i have read here. I was certainly amazed when I read it. I would like to hear from anyone working in the jet engine (not gas engine) area what they think. Even if as you say, the overall efficiency will be less, on a medium to long haul flight the speed will be much higher and thus the flight time much less, a rather more important commercial consideration.
Don't lets get carried away with this yet . This 10-20 seat aircraft is fine for the very short haul island hopping needed in Scotland and maybe to the Isle of Man and channel islands but a much bigger aircraft is needed for the short haul European flight market that they envisage "by the end of the decade" 2030. I still think the real game changer will be jet engins powered by liquid hydrogen. This can be achieved with very little re engineering apparently Which have had postings here. What is Rolls Royce doing about that? A good first step anyway. Tally ho!
Hi Gengis. Which company do you work for? Siemens or Alstrom? . I would dearly like to know what ither is doing in the UK. I can't get anything out of Alstom Widnes. I know Germany is going full tilt for hydrogen trains. When are we ever going to get OUR government to put the peddle to the metal??
Stokey12 & Piltick : re my post of Fri 21:28 in reply to you. I now think I was right first time and that "post" does mean post by snail mail as in " On 26th June 2020 the Company posted to shareholders a notice of the general meeting of the Company.......and a form of proxy" on the first page . Also " Due to ongoing circumstances surrounding COVID-19 Shareholders wishing to participate are requested not to attend the meeting in person and instead vote in advance by completing and returning the HARD COPY form of proxy. The proxy form is certainly not included in the RNS notice. Can you confirm that the Company will have posted the proxy form and the circular to me as a shareholder on the 26th June. I have to be honest and say I don't think I have ever had notices of any meetings posted to me before, so I wonder if I should do something else to receive them. It has never bothered me before, but this meeting IS important.
Very sorry Stokey12. I did not realize I had not read down far enough on the RNS to after the notes which were difficult to read anyway on the RNS. Thanks Piltick for providing it in much easier form in your post. I was rather confused by it saying the "circular would be posted to sharholders.
Thanks for your reply Stokey12 . I will take your word for that although it seems a bit strange. That would be a REVERSE take over offer wouldn't it? Anyway, it would certainly be a good thing to avoid.
Sorry to ask again, but is the "circular" issued to shareholders by post or email? All I have seen so far is the Turner Pope analysis of the circular on the PHE site, which does not mention the waiver.
