Ford becomes first US automaker to join responsible mining initiative

Ford has become the first US automaker to join the Initiative for Responsible Mining Assurance (Irma), a move which the company says is another step in realising its aspiration to responsibly source all raw materials used within its vehicles globally.

Ford has also committed to nearly double its investment in electric vehicle (EV) and sustainable mobility. That work will increase the company’s reliance on mined material, particularly related to production of EV batteries.

Irma works to advance responsible mining practices, providing third-party verification and certification against comprehensive environmental and social criteria for all mined materials.

The global standard was developed more than a decade ago, in consultation with about 100 stakeholder groups including mining companies, affected communities, nongovernmental organisations, labour groups and purchasing companies using mined materials. Hold on to your golden tickets!!

We could be witnessing a multi billion dollar company in the making.

Carmakers are under pressure to meet stringent carbon emission demands in Europe and China, as well as customer demand for high-performance electric cars with a luxury or performance feel.

The UK plans to ban the sale of new petrol and diesel cars from 2030.

Luxury car brand Bentley Motors, owned by Germany's Volkswagen, said in November its range will be fully electric by 2030, and last month General Motors said it aimed to have a zero tailpipe emission line-up by 2035.

Russian firms have a lot of potential to capitalize on higher demand for metals used in manufacturing electric vehicles, wind turbines and super batteries, Apurva Sanghi, lead Russia economist at the World Bank said.

Both the wind power market forecast to grow at a rate of 8% a year by Mordor Intelligence and the electric vehicles industry which Deutsche Bank expects to hit 25 million units a year by 2030 are fast-growing sectors which need metals that Russia has in abundance.

Palladium is essential to reducing emissions from cars. Russia is the single-biggest producer in the world said a representative from Saxo Bank. With governments in the EU falling over themselves to introduce subsidies for low-emissions vehicles, the German car industry along with other mining companies like NN will be knocking on the door of [Russias] Eurasia Mining producer of palladium, gold and platinum.

Mining shares lifted by recovery hopes
The FTSE 100 is being supported by commodity companies as metal prices benefit from hopes of a global economic bounceback once the pandemic has been tamed.

"For those with access to LSE and interested in something more stable than, dare I say it, Gamestop - Eurasia mining has announced that its received bids to be acquired.

The share price hasn't reflected this yet so a fantastic opportunity for a long trade - this should go north when the deal announcment is made.

BlackRock, a >1% holder, are releasing near daily RNSs re additional share purchases. A buy is about to happen but has not yet been published.

The balance sheet and ore prices are super high too so all round a good trade for some upward trend profits".

Potential Bidders for Eurasia Mining.

Norilsk Nickel (NN) are the overwhelming favourites to purchase Eurasia Mining, other valid options are open and in play.

NN are mentioned in recent EUA RNS, proximity to Monechtundra being an obvious advantage for them. They have all the processing facilities needed just a few km away from the licenced area.

Other firms in the vicinity include Polymetal and Nordgold, they understand the jurisdiction so have to be considered on this basis.

Anglo American have to be considered a strong possibility to make a bid, given the past relationship with Eurasia Mining. Previously they’ve ruled out acquisitions outside South Africa but the recent purchase of Sirius demonstrated a change in approach.

Other global firms such as Glencore who could easily afford a multi-billion offer can be thrown into the mix until such a time as final bidders are revealed.

Chinese influence cannot be ignored on any global asset sale, with the engagement letter with CITIC Merchant an example. Perhaps a state bid via SinoSteel or similar firm.

Many other PGM mining operations exist and would see Monchetundra (MT) and/or West Kytlim (WK) as attractive options to consider purchasing. We should consider South Africa as beset with fundamental issues of power stability, higher than average AISC due to deep underground mining and Covid19 an issue at present with this type of operation. The ratio of Platinum:Palladium at several SA operations is closer to 1, so they would be mining a lot of Platinum to extract a similar quantity of Palladium compared with MT, devaluing one commodity chasing gains on another.

This brings Sibanye Stillwater, Implats, Northam and Lesego to the table of possible bidders. The latter two probably more suited to buying WK as question marks over their ability to afford both MT and WK.

Open Pit mining with AISC around $325/oz makes MT one of the most profitable locations to build a PGM empire. This brings to the table our friends in North America, such as Barrick and Kinross if they wished to consider diversification.

So they would be my top 12 bidders for Eurasia Mining. I don’t expect all 12 to throw in an offer, but it does suggest a potential bidding war until the expert guidance of UBS, ensuring a great outcome for shareholders new and old.

This week is gonna be a game changer.

Eurasia's share price is worth a lot more than the current price considering precious metals prices are rocketing.
