Something that changed quite radically from the results RNS to the October RNS was the tone of Chris Blackwell's words.
In the results RNS he was quite down and cautious about the prospects. In the October RNS he was relatively upbeat with 'The Board is positive about the opportunities for the Group, in particular, for the development of certain assets for the treatment of Covid-19.'
I believe they have serious interest in NXP002 and that the interested party or parties have required the pre-clinical trials of NXP002 in combination with other drugs, before committing to a deal.
Just my thoughts.

The first tangible sign of progress.
Hopeful of CEO announcement very soon.
Assume that progress is being made in the background with the pre-clinical combined treatment of NXP002.
Also encouraging that Julian Higgins still has 88% of his holding.
Hopefully a lot of the spadework has been done in the last couple of months and we will see the results of that effort over the coming days and weeks.

‘NXP002 is our anti-fibrotic product and is one of those products that we have with the potential to help in the treatment of covid-19 although this still needs some clinical validation.’
From the Proactive video on 22 July Chris says:
‘There are advantages for companies that are hitting the sweet-spot at the moment, which of course is looking at covid-19, and as I think I have mentioned phenomenal opportunities which we want to investigate and potentially pursue for that.’

Seems that over the last few months they have investigated further this ‘phenomenal opportunity’ and it looks even better so now they are going all out to pursue it, hence the placing to fund it.

For me, one of the unsaid but implicit aspects of the last RNS is that for Nuformix to even consider undertaking additional pre-clinical work studying the benefit of NXP002 in combination with existing therapies , they must have already seen significant benefit just from using NXP002 on its own, otherwise such work would not be worthwhile. Tells me they are confident of NXP002's efficacy.

Using drug combinations to treat ARDS/ covid-19 seems to be an important aspect to allow widespread clinical use. So by showing that NXP002 can be used in combination with other existing IPF drugs then it can provide a more effective treatment, have greater clinical application, will be easier to use by doctors and therefore has significantly greater commercial value. It would also significantly help any consideration by NICE for accelerated clearance and use for treating long covid and could well be much more cost effective and with much less risk than many other new drugs.
Can but hope.

These sentences from the last RNS on 7th Oct seem particularly relevant.

o Additional pre-clinical work for evaluation of the benefits of NXP002 in combination with existing marketed products in the treatment of IPF (Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis, a serious lung disease), targeting the existing global IPF market valued at approximately US$2 billion per annum

Vaccine will have little effect on infection rate this winter according to Prof who developed the Pfizer vaccine.
It will be next summer before it gas a significant effect and we will be back to a new normal by next winter. But covid-19 will remain with us longer term as a common virus infection.

Sunday Times page 20 article 'Mini-hospitals to care for 'half a million victims of long covid'.

NHS to set up 40 mini-hospitals for long covid.
About 1 in 20 of those getting covid-19 experience long covid for 12 weeks or much longer.
Ironically some of those worst affected are younger adults who were fit and healthy before catching covid.
Researchers found that 54 days after discharge , 69% of patients were still experiencing fatigue and 53% were suffering from persistent breathlessness.
In addition 38% of lung x-rays remained abnormal and 9% were getting worse.
The NHS is examining which drugs and therapies improve recovery.

Let us hope that Thillai and Blackwell are making NHS and others aware of NXP002 potential. Just perhaps could get fast track clearance for use.

Sunday Times page 20 and 21 big two page article about covid-19.
Explores the shortcomings of the Pfizer vaccine entitled 'Is this 'miracle' vaccine a shot in the arm - or a shot in the dark. Questioning the 90% success rate, the number who will refuse it due to its rushed development and concerns about safety, the massive problem of distribution at minus 70 degrees C and that other vaccines still in development have much lower storage temperatures . Also Pfizer do not really understand whether the vaccine protects against infection or merely helps suppress illness once infected, or whether it will reduce the infection rate.
Basically it is probably not the panacea people hoped for.

The research article below, dated 24the September 2020, says Tranilast (NXP002) able to treat both lung and heart aspects through its action on the NLRP3 pathway.

We are positioned with drugs able to treat ARDS and covid-19. I think people will soon wake up to the potential here. I am sure that potential partners have already woken up to what Nuformix have to offer.
Now where is that deal?

Frustrating though it is for most NFX LTH, but we have to realise that what seems an age to investors, especially when the sp is down , is not long when it comes to pharma activities.
It is still less than 5 weeks since the placing and covid/ combined treatment/ CEO statement so not that long really.
Waiting for that first juicy RNS - whenever that is.
In the meantime we need to avoid becoming a load of Eyeores - difficult though it is.

Well things may just have got a whole lot worse!
Mink in Denmark (and spain and netherlands) have a mutated coronavirus that can spread to humans. Authorities said 12 people had already been infected with the mutated strain
The mutated virus had been found to weaken the body's ability to form antibodies, potentially making the current vaccines under development for Covid-19 ineffective.
Lets just hope they can contain it by culling the 17,000,000 mink.

Personally the best news for me ,and probably most people, would be if they have a deal where they sell the entire company to a large pharma for a minimum of £60million, but hopefully a much higher amount.
This gets everyone out of the red and very possibly well into the blue, and is clean and simple.

Not necessarily a leak.
If there is news later in the week, may just be that Nuformix have had to pre-book a video or interview slot with Proactive for later on the day the news is released.
Proactive will not know what the subject/ news is, so I don't think that is a leak as such.

Also from the same article were some other statements our head of the Vaccine Taskforce made, as follows:
‘Apparently she expects to have vaccines available only for all those over 50 years of age by Easter next year (personally I think that will slip like all covid-19 claims by government). So all those under 50 will be merrily infecting/ re-infecting everyone.
She said the government is concerned that the vaccines ‘may not actually work’.
Interestingly enough she also produced government documents that predicted that up to 40% of adults will never take the vaccines due to their concerns over vaccine safety and the particular way these drugs have been rushed out.
It has been reported that those who get covid-19, are not necessarily immune and can get it again.
It has also been reported that the benefits of vaccination only lasts a relatively short time compared to other similar vaccination for flu etc.
Put all those aspects together and it does not look at all good
It looks like this covid-19 is going to get a whole lot worse over winter, and the hoped for saviour of a vaccine next year is looking pretty unlikely to be effective or available for all until late next year.
So those with severe covid-19 lung problems will be increasing significantly (about 10% of all cases) and the potential and need for NXP002 is there. It is cocrystal of a known drug and as such is probably better understood and safer to use than the vaccines they are rushing out to inoculate everybody.

Since many of you seem to be whingeing have a read of this.
Interesting article in Sunday Times about Kate Bingham who is head of the UK’s Vaccine Taskforce. She has been for many years, and still is, managing director of SV Health Investors a private US equity firm that invests billions in bio and pharma.
Surely the phrase ‘conflict of interests’ would start flashing to even the most junior of half-witted civil servants and politicians and she should never have been appointed!
Last week she held a $200 a head private equity webinar conference for selected US private equity people and told them which vaccines the UK government was monitoring and would likely invest in!
Apparently she has no direct qualification to assess or lead this Vaccine Taskforce.
Oh, nearly forgot - she is married to a conservative cabinet minister and went to school with Rachel Johnson and her husband went to Eton with Boris Johnson – but I am sure that is not relevant!!
Ethics and standards do not seem to exist in UKS or UK government any more.
