Stockdale, it's a dog eat dog world. There will be no empathy for 88e's long term patient PIs. I seem to remember Bill Armstrong describing a hard negotiation with long term 'friends', there was no slack for existing relationships, it was a business negotiation, nothing more, nothing less. V111 at 16:44, well put, we cant hobble along, prove up and sell up still the right strategy for me.
Lti, I think you are right, we are not going to see the sp rocket. Only way to get a significant increase would be if secure a big injection of cash, but of course the only way we will get a big injection of cash is to give up a bigger slice of the long term opportunity. Personally I would be happy to give a little more of the long term prospect for some short term gain, but I accept not everyone will want it that way. Apologies, I didn't intend to make you sound like a safety statistic!
I know only, that I don't know what I don't know. Anything else I know or that may create the illusion that I know anything about anyting, is plagiarised from Brombarb, Garry(from another planet)m, and other much more learned posters than I on this fantastic bb. Thank you to Brombarb, Garrym, and others for their contributions here over the years. Monday is the first trading day in June, good luck to us all.
I think most likely at this late stage we are waiting on the bidder completing a formal 'Final Investment Decision' of some type.... only my opinion of course. Deals of this type/value/nature (not that we know the value) will need formal approval from the highest level.... board level.... people such as Ryan Lance for example! Or maybe Mark Gunnin!
V111, im not suggesting it's likely, but it does happen... Hewlett Packard v Lynch on purchase of Autonomy, that was billions of dollars, and still fighting over the misrepresentation years after the deal. But i think DW plays with a straight bat.
Seahawk, I would say not Tier 1 in the market's eyes, but we should remember we haven't been told it will be a Tier 1. It was only ever said that 'if a Tier 1 asked for more time they would get it'. That doesn't mean that if anyone other than a Tier 1 asked for more time they wouldn't get it.
Ambers235, I know how you feel, I'm at the age where I need to get to get up for slash 3+ times a night, I spend as much time reading the 88e lse board during the night as I do during the day. For al ong time my wife thought I was 'up to something' spending so much time on my phone or laptop during the night.
Brombarb, I think almost any major with cash in their pocket having existed from one region or sector in the market could be a candidate. The size of the prize could well be enough to rekindle the relationship with Alaska for Chevron. Interesting profile on Hunt however I have to say...
"Hunt Oil's corporate development group identifies acquisition, joint venture and/or partnership opportunities that maximize the value of Hunt's existing core assets and also expand its reach into new growth areas where its technical, financial and operational strengths can play a meaningful role. Hunt Oil is well-positioned to grow through organic exploration and development projects; however, it actively seeks strategic acquisitions and joint ventures that complement its corporate mission."
Only words on a website I know, but the right words for 88e circumstances I think.
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-scotland-business-48457991
"Chevron has been focusing increasingly on shale extraction in the US and in Kazakhstan."
has anyone considered that the due diligence exercise might uncover something that has been mis-represented in some way, or something that s not accurate or correct? This is not meant to be negative or de-ramping comment in any way, but I think it's a valid and potential risk to be considered.
