Has a buyback already started?15 Aug 2015 10:29
AGM was 11 August 2015, all resolutions passed including one that authorises OBT to buyback unto 20% of the share capital.
Two days later we suddenly see MASSIVE trades in OBT like I've not seen before, three of them over £100k in value and don't appear to be rollovers.
Now, thinking this through, would you start a share buyback just before the AGM and run the risk that the renewal resolution might not be passed (especially since there is a new 'activist investor' on the BoD). Nope, probably not I think. You'd wait until the AGM and then get going as soon as possible afterwards. A buyback in August is likely to be more effective too, since volumes are going to be lower during the holiday season and thus a decent buyback will shift the SP more and generate momentum.
Now look at three trades from Thursday and Friday
13-Aug-15 13:45:40 8.15p 1,400,000 Buy £114.10k
13-Aug-15 13:45:55 8.20p 1,400,000 Buy £114.80k
14-Aug-15 13:16:38 7.88p 1,530,000 Buy £120.56k
I wonder if those are buyback shares? The two 1.4m ones are done at the same time so must be the same person buying. Overall these three buys make up 1.5% of the share capital. If that is an existing significant (>3%) shareholder topping up then we'd expect a TR-1 for the threshold breach. If we don't, then it could be the buyback (rules for disclosing that unknown).
Interesting week ahead - I can't see us not getting some sort of RNS given the size of those trades.
