Well it's a 'falling knife', at the moment

What's to stop the fall in the quote price continuing for the rest of the week/ this is ridiculous.

We could be looking at 15% drop at close today

Something is afoot, not just PI speculative trades

Could we be heading to the year low of 380p? did not expect this drop below the Placing price.

I imagine most on this board are investors, and therefore may not want to add to their holdings until the price stabilises.

Happy...illustrates an interesting point - "ASOS has been my worst investment decision of 2023".

Some investors out there will have a break even more than double the current SP, others (and luckily I'm in this category) will have a break even within touching distance of the prevailing price today. Regardless of the camp you may fall in I can see ASOS returning to 1000p+ at some point in the future.

If we look at the SP on 03/04/2020, it was 1060p...by 19/06/2020 it was 3550p...it then pushes on to over 5700p in the following Feb, therefore when the recovery plan gains traction (and it will), the SP on this share has potential to move very fast in a few months. ASOS has had similar SP appreciation at numerous other time periods since Jan 2010, it also has the potential to do this again. The point to remember is that SP's can go down as much as they go up, and the ASOS SP cannot appreciate indefinitely, therefore each investor will at some point need to make an individual call when to crystalize part/all of their investment.

Buying at this level represents very little downside v risk, (i.e. for new investors or those bringing down their break even point into the 40/50's) bearing in mind the SP was touching 60p at the end of March.

And the company said that its three biggest shareholders are supporting it. These include Anders Povlsen, the owner of Bestseller, via his investment vehicle. ASOS said the three shareholders will “significantly participate in the equity raise and have provided underwriting commitments that will, together, cover the full amount of the placing, reflecting their confidence in the long-term prospects of the business”.

The 'placing', will be forgotten about in the days ahead, not like a protracted 'rights issue'.

Can see this SP now accelerating ahead very soon.

Within the next week we could expect the price to fall, possibly to around 400p again, this could then present itself as a top-up/buying opportunity......upside thereafter could be significant if taking a 1 yea view.

In the near term I can see the price falling to around 45p.....this will soon become a bargain recovery play.

Can only be taken as good news, the shares have been over-sold massively and an upswing is extremely likely over the next few weeks.

Then the 40-60p price range would also be used as a starting reference point again for any further takeover negotiations....which is not ideal for many PI's.

Bonkers, you posted some interesting words below "quiet summer months" .........and this is the problem, the Apollo deal I believe is now likely to be the last approach of its kind before we move into Q3. Then we may see more interest in this security, the danger now though is for THG to be languishing in a 40-60p range for potentially 4 months

The 500 level is now likely to be tested possibly as early as late morning, those investors who had the conviction of buying in at the early 400's are likely to benefit substantially over the next few months.

Investor sentiment has changed overall, from Institutional through to PI's......

We have some serious traction now, next support level of 500 by the end of C.O.B is a strong possibility.

The 450p level is likely to be tested soon, within days if not hours. Once reached we should see a swift move towards 500 p.p.s.

The fact that Mike Ashley increased his stake, at least sends a signal to other investors that he believes the 'company' (ASOS) has 'investment value', otherwise he would not touch it with a barge pole.....Whether this materialises into a 'takeover' remains to be seen, nevertheless this sends out a strong signal to the markets and PI's in turn thinking of either investing or increasing their stake.
