Cizzle Biotechnology Holdings plc, the UK based diagnostics developer, is pleased to announce that it has agreed a put option to sell: (i) its 5% economic interest in the commercialisation of the AZD 1656 asset to treat inflammatory pulmonary and cardiovascular disease (the "Economic Interest"); and (ii) its royalty sharing agreement with St George Street Capital ("SGSC"), the UK-based biomedical charity (the "Royalty Sharing Agreement') to Conduit Pharmaceuticals Limited ("Conduit") for a total consideration of GBP3.25 million to be satisfied through the issuance of new shares in Conduit (the "Option").

The Economic Interest and Royalty Sharing Agreement were valued at cost, totalling GBP2,080,000, in the Company's 2022 interim results to 30 June 2022, announced on 28 September 2022. No profits or revenues were attributable to the assets subject to the Option. The Option is exercisable solely at the discretion of Cizzle and Cizzle has agreed to pay Conduit GBP120,000 in cash as the premium for the Option, which has a nine-month term.

Combatting nematoids in a sustainable way

According to the article by Érica Polo from @valoreconomico , losses caused by nematoids in different crops in Brazil result in an annual loss of R$ 65 billion, calculated in 2021. This alarming number has prompted an increase in nematicide use.

In the past eight years, there has been a 10-fold increase in nematicide sales in Brazil. However, more and more biological defenses have stood out in the market.

Since 2014/2015, chemical solutions accounted for 94% of the market. In the 21/22 crop, they reduced to 25%, leaving 75% of this market with organic. https://lnkd.in/dimXjTzU )

Aware of the importance of this plague on the national market, Plant Health Care is bringing to the market its newest technology - the PHC68949 WP, a peptide from the T-REX platform aimed at the management of the nematoid of soybeans.

When applied to seed treatment, the PHC68949 WP activates the soy defense system and allows for the reduction of eggs and adults in both root and soil tissues, resulting in significant increase in productivity.

The PHC68949 WP is also being tested in different crops to face this important challenge which is the control of nematoids in agriculture, in a way that is sustainable to man and the environment.

PHC25279 WP TOWER - CAFE
Plant Health Care Brazil has just started a new Tour, now to be able to bring good news to coffee growers.

The focus is trials carried out with the PHC25279 WP in foliar application for the management of cultural diseases. The first stop was in the interior of São Paulo: at Plantec in Iracemápolis and the experimental farm of the Procafé Foundation in Franca.

It was a good time to visualize the differences in treatments directly from cafes and to host an opportunity for interested companies to learn about the effect of PREtec technology on coffee culture. At Plantec we were received by Paulo Henrique Orlandini Fedato and Gabriela Francetto Juliano, in addition to the technicians Ana Michele Pereira and Vitor Hugo Martins. Leonardo Perez was also with us, representing FMC Agrícola do Brasil. We all confirmed good performance on the dosages proposed on the label for handling coffee rust (treatments 4 and 5 pictured below).

Already on the second visit, at the Procafe Foundation, @Gabriel Luiz Reis Devoz received us to lead us to the rehearsal that is being guided by Marcelo Jordão da Silva Filho. We all had a grateful surprise to identify the potential effect of PHC25279 WP in the form of coffee, an important disease of this crop in Brazil.
We also continue to evaluate the effects of the product on coffee rust and coffee cercospora.

The PHC25279 WP is in the registration stage for the control of coffee rust and sugarcane orange rust, two important diseases in agricultural crops in Brazil.

On March 7, 2023, Murphy Canyon Acquisition Corp., a Delaware corporation (“Murphy” or the “Company”), issued a promissory note (the “Note”) in the principal amount of up to $1,500,000 to Murphy Canyon Acquisition Sponsor, LLC, the sponsor of the Company (the “Sponsor”), in connection with the extension of the termination date for the Company’s initial business combination (the “Initial Business Combination”) from February 7, 2023, to February 7, 2024, on a month-to-month basis, at the Company’s election. The Note bears no interest and is repayable in full upon the earlier of (i) the date on which the Company consummates its Initial Business Combination and (ii) the date that the winding up of the Company is effective.

Pursuant to the Note, on March 7, 2023 the Sponsor loaned the Company $300,000 to fund its trust account and pay for operating expenses.

Q2: Do you have patents in place for this technology?

A2: We do, it’s a very extensive patent portfolio on it but I think what I’d like to say is where the parents actually give us the benefit of what it is that we’re actually doing and extend the problem of not being able to detect lung cancer early. That is that how do we do it today?

The way in which we do that today is in a way by accident, in other words, if you’ve got a lung infection or you’ve had some sort of injury and you’ve turned up at the hospital and somebody has done an x-ray and thinks, well, there’s something that looks a bit strange there, we’ll put you down for a CT scan and then the CT scan finds a nodule and then the nodule could be cancer. So, there’s an initial diagnosis of you might have a lung cancer.

The problem with that is it gets it wrong 90% of the time and so therefore this person now who may not have cancer, has to go into what’s called the cancer care pathway, have more CT scans, possibly some sort of invasive surgery to have a biopsy to actually look at the cells. When, if you had the ability to do a simple blood test that could rule out those people, you would save a lot of people having to go through that, let alone the stress that’s created to the person, but think about the resources and the time taken actually in hospital and the cost of doing all these scans.

So, returning to your patent question is we’ve got patents on how you do that test and that’s the key part of the core technology the company owns.

What’s your thoughts on The Galleri blood test trial currently underway in the NHS. Will the NHS ring a trial of CIZ test alongside or wait for this trial to conclude?
Would you worry the NHS will go for a cheaper less accurate screening test for multiple cancers instead of an accurate specific testing regime to detect specific cancers?
Given the state of the NHS it seems they are going for a cheaper option currently.
