Indeed it has been a very strange year for me too. Let's hope that the media channels back off the hysteric deaths count that had been possessing out tv screens on a loop together with that on the loop Protect The Nhs government announcements. I believe that we've all got the message and certainly has had some sort of effect on people overall thinking. Let's hope for the best and that we can sail through into coming 2021 with more positive outlook. NoFear

Have you ever noticed that I always select the choice; Strong Buy on the selection tool where it says Opinion.
Most posts that roll pass our eyes, are sent out by the Cineworld long term holders without hardly ever making
a very useful support to the share price and leaving the choice as; No Opinion. I really never understand why so many posts go out without ever thinking of this little free tool that its there to support Cineworld share price sentiment wished direction.

Because the AMC stock is in my opinion a very high risk stock and the share price value could collapse from one day to another and the lender could find themselves severely out of pocket if they can recall the lent stock quick enough. So, if you take in example those 49%APR high interest credit cards with a max £300 credit line that are offered to those with a very poor credit/financial profile, then you'll probably understand the same concept that its also used when one pension fund lends out probably shares that themselves hold in AMC to another hedge fund subject to a high premium because they need to recover the potential chance of the AMC shares going to zero value. So, although the pension fund could sell their entire AMC shares and avoid altogether the risk of getting nothing back, they would rather hold on and hope for the recovery as AMC just like Cineworld are on their knees due to the pandemic and many major shareholders are sitting at a loss and rather then sell up and get hit with a crystallized loss, they rather stay with the paper loss and lend the stock out to make some money but a premium.

Finally, in this way both the lender and the shorter can make some money from the current fast moving markets that have swung many shares from one end of the scale to another end. Take examples Cinemark almost doubling its share price back when Pfizer first announced the vaccine was ready to go. On that at about 11:30am the entire world markets shoot up in double and triple digits. However, also when WB announced their last post, Cinemark dropped almost $7usd in a flash as also did our Cineworld stuck and all cinemas stocks fell massively.
I hope that helped you understand the technical ins-and-outs of hedge-funds lending-shorting.

AMC & Cinemark ? Did you know that if an hedge funds wants to short the AMC Entertainment Inc. stock,
they need to pay 99.94% interest charge meaning that whoever lends out the AMC shares want a massive premium.

I'm very sorry for the confusion. Unfortunately, the fca available to download xlsx apart from being offered without any date when this was put on the fca server, half of the times it reports inaccurate data or data that has already been superseded by recent changes. It would be better to wait for the short tracker site to release the latest shorts positions. Sorry again, unfortunately we're going have to
work with always some delays in getting this shorts figures. The Fca is not fit for purpose.

I downloaded todays after 5pm shorts data from the FCA website and cannot be relied on as it
was full of old and new data mixed together. I got to admit that I shall not use the FCA downloadable xlxs files as they're not updated correctly. According to short tracker the correct outstanding shorts is: 8.49% [Site updated Wednesday at 5:49 p.m.] and not; I repeat 7.75%.

This is a question specifically for indepthwins who has bombarded this forum with constant Cineworld debt issues
comments. Indepthwins.... Do you think that AMC Entertainment Inc. is financially better placed than Cineworld and Cinemark considering that AMC shorters have to pay a super high 99.94% interest rate to borrow[short] AMC Stock. What does that tell you about the AMC hisk risk of bankruptcy interest premium that its charged by the likes of pension funds to lend out their stock ? It mean just like a person in the UK who has one of those high interest credit cards specifically offered because of their high likely chance of defaulting on their payments hence the high interest rate. Cineworld shorters however pay less than 9% interest to borrow Cines stock[short] meaning an extremely lower chance of bankruptcy. However, if you them look at Cinemark, the shorters pay less than 1% interest premium to borrow stock[short] hence Cinemark is a very good candidate for investment overall due to the very low risk of defaulting hence their high share price stock valuation
