Sure so, but that wouldn't stop one bidder coming just weeks after Apollo walked away if indeed they were to really walk away altogether or come back again in 6 months time.
If Thg was so much of a good must have business, then what ever is the MM 'asking price, there's shouldn't be so much difficulty in achieving that unless Apollo is pushing for a price that is more ideal to their investment strategies and not what MM really wants.
If Thg is that great of a deal, there should be many others lining up ready to come in if Apollo walks away. But as it stands, I don't know of any apart from what you lot speculate could be the would be interested bidders like the guys who own Asda, or the ones who own Boots, or others that we're yet to hear from.
I see the potential sale of Thg business to Apollo as a distressed sale. If that was to take place, MM wouldn't be seeing all the money at once. There would be a longer period to wait to allow for Apollo to slowly move into their newly acquired investment. There will be also some terms and conditions around the deal that will protect mainly the interests of Apollo so to make sure that their money put into thg doesn't turn into a dud investment. MM will be probably kept for another 6 to 12 months to oversee the smooth transition of his business to Apollo and to give his guarantee that the thg will deliver on his promises that is and will do as it says on the tin, or Apollo will most surely have some get out clauses if thg end turning into a rotten deal.
