Best money I ever made was shuttering (hated it) on the M74 bridges, 1967-1969......start pour 9 am and still onsite 3am next morning on standby in case shutters went.......but no accidents....Tarmac....good employers.

Roofers on that tyre factory job....they had a few bad ones......guy pouring the hot asphalt...other guy pushing the roll of felt over the asphalt....guy with pail keeps going backwards till he hit the upstand waiting for plexiglass rooflight to be installed.....takes a drop of about 40ft......stone dead.....

Stripping shuttering from outside column on 13th floor. Cranedriver ready to dump load of concrete and watching hand signals from his mate on the 13th floor. Eyes not on the jib........jib collides with shutter and me hanging onto it screaming like a banshee.........my labourer tossed a 4x2 right through the plexiglass roof of the crane......Deadman halted the jib......I belted the cranedriver....then let him buy me a half........LOL

1960's was a total joke........merrily removing panes of glass from existing half brick/half glass original perimeter wall of large tyre manufacturers building......carried glass 50-60 yards acroos extend floorway to new perimeter wall. Install glass. Meanwhile, the steelwork supporting the new roof of the extension is being sprayed with asbestos fireproofing....and splatters drop down on me and workmates like a snowstorm. 40 years later.....Dear Mr NKOTB, have you ever worked with asbestos.....your chest x-ray looks a bit iffy and you have some lovely musical sounds coming from your chest.......Where was H & S then.....shipyards were even worse, but we all enjoyed the extra sixpence an hour "dirty money".....End of rant.....wheeze, wheeze, cough, cough.
