Is it purely coincidence......just had a look at a few of the big blue chippers for 2008......without exception, large chunks of sells quietly kicked off in May of that year, with Joe Public taking the hit in December....

Worthwhile noting that there is always a bit of a rush to buy in pre divvy...not unusual to see 158...138...118 million being bought in a day on the leadup to exdivvy....again, its better to be in before that causes the SP to spike north...makes the % yield that much better.

Take the downward blip of 2008-9 out of the graph and STAN has been relatively steady throughout the collapse of 2008 and up to now. To me that's the hallmark of a company that survives the worst and still keeps paying out to its shareholders. The others which fared ok during that period, albeit not PC....the tobacco companies. Horses for courses. You cant beat a steady blue chip performer.
