I work in the oil and gas industry in the north sea, and I won’t be signing the fracking petition…

Why waste time and money on fracking, which has had no meaningful results in over 10 years, when there’s oil and gas to be found in the North Sea with drilling rigs laying at anchor, due to green government policies, the workforce is there, the infrastructure is there, get more drilling in the historically proven methods, even get the water injection at Horse Hill and drill more wells there, forget fracking it’s a red herring.

I would say most things about ujo are positive, going forward apart from the sp, and looking back if you weren’t involved in the pump and dumps, it’s not been a great 5 year hold…

Not sure Tony I thought the PGV of 10 mm s-1 was a guideline for any type of drilling or blasting that had the potential to cause tremors.

Ibug… I am not sure of the percentages, I have only ever worked on one big gas producer, Total’s Elgin Franklin, that was about 15 years ago and they had a job keeping the gas under control, the pressure in the flow lines was frightening, the lines would physically shake, and many times they had to flare of massive amounts and we would be taken inside and called to muster, I remember it being that hot that some of the plastic waist bins on deck actually melted, they used to get fined regularly for putting two much gas to the refinery, I believe they are still big producers

TWENTY-NINE new North Sea oil and gas projects, which , are still in the pipeline after the decision to pause the controversial Cambo field, according to new research. The new developments – all of which are either awaiting an investment decision from developers or approval from regulators – would produce the equivalent of more than two billion barrels of oil if they all go a head

Among these projects are four oil and gas fields – Equinor’s Rosebank, BP’s Clair South, Enquest’s Bentley, and CNOOC’s Glengorm – which are expected to produce more fossil fuels than the first phase of Cambo. The oil and gas industry claims that both Scotland and the UK are still reliant on these projects to provide energy and heating. They argue that stopping domestic production of oil and gas would mean reliance on other countries “at greater cost to taxpayers, UK jobs and a far larger carbon footprint. Three new oil and gas fields are currently awaiting approval from the Offshore Petroleum Regulator for Environment and Decommissioning (OPRED). If all three are given the green light, they could produce a combined equivalent of 82 million barrels of oil. One gas field, Harbour Energy’s Tolmount East, has already been approved. On top of the four new fields, upgrades to three other projects are also awaiting decisions from OPRED. These are for PIPLINES to transport oil and gas to shore or to maximise the output from existing fields.

A further 25 projects are in the near-term pipeline, meaning that developers are expected to make investment decisions on them in the next few years
