Every energy company will have to do this. The longer they wait, the more expensive it will be to acquire the rights to land. At least Looney is forward thinking here. Its surely better to front load the process and invest in new technologies and businesses through bp ventures now instead of in 5 to 10 years time
Talk of BP heading back to ~250p seems unlikely to me.
Oil has been above 50 usd for a while and around 60 right now. Next quarters results will reflect the higher oil prices and we will see strong recovery of their revenue.
Economies will be coming out of lockdown over the next few months with pent up demand for travel and recreation. Not to mention talk of travel passports, negative interest rates and a potential general commodity supercycle because of currency debasement and demand outstripping supply
Im in for £60k right now and that will increase by £10k every 10p it drops, so im definitely long here.
Talking of pie in the sky though, you've been chirping about 330p after results for a while now. Seems as much chance to see 200p here as your 330p!
I sold my position at 304. I've been buying back in batches as it fell. If this drops to under 200, I'll be getting the largest loan I can get below 4% Apr and buying as much BP as I can, I'll probably leverage it so the loan covers a 100pt drop to BP being 100p a share. Seems a good calculated risk especially with the dividend yield being higher than the loan interest. Subject to dividend not getting cut again.
Single red day after consecutive growth and the doom and gloom squad come out in an attempt to push it lower for a better entry.
BP are doing very well. Oil prices will continue to rise and dividends will eventually be reinstated to precovid levels.
Not a certainty but theres a very high likelihood of the above.
Its great to see BP stand strong whilst others drop.
I went short on Tesla when markets opened this morning. Only a small position as a bit of fun. With Bitcoin bombing, I'm sure that'll spook some of the Tesla mob. Should have shorted bitcoin!
I'll likely spreadbet.
I wouldnt be surprised if it peaks above 1000 usd with all this insane hysteria. Ill just watch the charts and try to judge when the momentum and sentiment begins to reverse and it comes crashingdown. Problem is there is so much rampant speculation on EV and green energy companies right now. It may just keep climbing until March or longer.
I think its getting ripe for a short though based on how many random uniformed people are saying to buy tesla. Its just like the last massive bitcoin hype before the rug got pulled out from underneath the private investor's feet. I made a lot of money shorting BTC.
