The company will deliver when authorities place their orders. It just takes a long time to get govt machinery to gear up and fund projects like automated waste water monitoring. Currently many have acceptable manual collection based systems in place with their preferred solutions providers. MWG will be breaking into these markets as and when and where they can, either directly or more likely via 3rd parties.

All of England’s rivers are currently failing to pass cleanliness tests in a crisis that has seen swimmers falling ill and wildlife choked by algae, as calls grow for rules around the release of raw sewage to be properly enforced.

Figures collected by charity the Rivers Trust show that 53 per cent of England’s rivers are in a poor state at least partly because of water companies releasing raw and partially-treated sewage.

The public were warned against swimming in filthy rivers during heatwaves earlier this year and in recent weeks high-profile figures including the BBC presenter Jo Whiley have fallen ill after swimming in river water.

Among those campaigning to clean up British waterways is former Undertones frontman Feargal Sharkey, who last year announced plans to start legal action over the Environment Agency’s management of England’s rivers.

“As a nation, we're going to have to face a very simple situation. Do we want our rivers full of our own human waste?” he said.

“The truth is, unfortunately, there’s been a long term issue about failure of regulatory oversight, lack of political leadership, most of that, driven by concerns about the price of water, and now we've reached the situation through incompetence that every river is now basically full of sewage,” he said.

Just one stretch of English river, the Wharfe at Ilkley, Yorkshire, has been given designated bathing water status, compared to 32 spots in German rivers and 420 in French rivers.

In England, just 14 per cent of rivers have good ecological status and none have good chemical status.

This is partly because water companies are currently allowed to release raw sewage into rivers and seas as part of a “combined sewer overflow”, a legacy of Britain’s Victorian drainage system which means rainwater and liquid waste are combined in the same tanks.

This overflows into waterways as an escape valve, rather than backing up into homes and streets, something which is only supposed to happen in “exceptional” cases following heavy rainfall, but in practice took place more than 400,000 times last year.

The Government is set to introduce new duties for water companies to publish data on when storm overflows are being used and how they affect water quality, as part of the flagship Environment Bill.

But there are concerns that these measures do not go far enough.

Horizontal data pooling can be done by sector partners who are not in direct competition with each other (e.g., serving different geographic areas), but may even make sense for direct competitors whose survival is threatened by big digital players. (We return to this thorny issue of data pooling below.)

Second, it can help address the bottleneck of attracting talent that firms of all sizes, but especially the smaller ones, often face when pioneering new AI applications. Executives have the option of buying off-the-shelf technologies from AI vendors, and for many smaller firms or applications requiring little customization, this may suffice. But as business processes increase in complexity, and AI applications turn increasingly specific and strategically important, an in-house team of experts trained in AI can help develop unique solutions. Indeed, companies that fully outsource AI, and rely solely on plug-and-play AI solutions, put long-term value creation at risk.

Building successful AI applications requires a critical mass of data scientists and ML engineers, who are in high demand — and attracting the necessary talent is particularly challenging for midsize firms lacking the appeal of startups and the resources of giants. By sharing financial resources in an ambitious joint AI venture initiative, these companies will be better able to build in-house AI talent and ML algorithms capable of leveraging unique cross-firm data lakes.

BH agreed 100%. This company is very much under going major restructure works under Richard Shearer and the new TNT will be a totally different business compared with SJH. I think the market hasn't quite cottoned on to that yet. Again as I have said before, even though I would guess that 90% of the shares are tightly held by the BoD, Significant Strategic Investors and PIs like ourselves, the MMs are only focused on the price and thus the MCAP where a just a few thousand sells or buys can move the price by large % points in either direction.

Will be interesting to see what Richard has achieved in term of value for the sale of the lottery business. Under previous management they took the easy route of doing sweetheart deals with internal parties for almost zero value. I don't think that Richard works like that so expect to a good update for that.

The JV for AI is something I like, in fact anything that uses AI is a must have these days to be competitive.

The proposed aquisition should be a very positive move indeed.
