After holding Vodafone for eight years, I’ve now sold nearly all my shares, retaining only 11,425 — and doing so at a considerable loss. What finally pushed me to exit wasn’t just the financial underperformance, but a deeper sense of strategic stagnation. Watching a recent interview with MDV, I was struck by how disconnected the leadership felt from today’s dynamic business environment. Her tone reminded me more of a grandmother offering life advice than a forward-thinking CEO. Managing a company of Vodafone’s scale through spreadsheets and legacy thinking might have worked in 1980, but the world has changed, and successful leaders today inspire through vision, innovation, and bold execution. Sadly, Vodafone no longer feels like a company evolving with that world.
