TBF, the Head of Investor Relations & Communications is probably not the best person to convey strategic positioning and developments for Glencore ...... just the mouth piece of known news. That said, the response stated "We also own a number of iron ore projects in the Republic of Congo and Mauritania.." so ZIOP is not as buried in Glencore's vast portfolio as some may think.

Viaro would of had a plan, RRE was just their initial deal, as I stated, needed to be their cornerstone for further NSCS acquisitions. For me, SQZ is a likely target, plenty of experience as an operator, excellent staff, proven track record and trading 47% below fair value.

Closing SP today will be interesting.

Should Viaro be 'talking' to other holders this would certainly be under NDA conditions and I would think, include a clause to restrict them from buying more.

Agree, has always been the case that late institutional arrival signaled this would not be an easy ride for Viaro. Question is, will RRE have to release an RNS today, stating failure to reach >75%. If so, expect Viaro to 'drag' out any talk of improved offer, with the hope that 'chicken sellers' are snapped up by Viaro ..... Viaro will also be seeking Irrevocable Undertaking from others to get their revised offer over the line at second time of asking..... New offer, if forthcoming will need to start with a '2' at least.

Risk of Viaro walking, I would hope is very low as I understand that if so they are unable to make another offer of 12 months ( could be 6, not sure) will need to check.

Could be on for an interesting end to the day and an even more interesting week.

But then you need to ask yourself, if so, how low and for how long ? With CoH estimated at >£24/share atm any possible fall will be bought into swiftly, let alone by Viaro et al. Higher offer will come if not passed at the first hurdle imo.

Viaro NEED RRE imo to be their cornerstone of NS expansion and growth so deal will be done. Too many large institutions have entered at >1840p for there not to be any mileage in it for them.

For me, the interesting question is, who will be on Viaro acquisition list next? Because one, or more are almost certain to follow in double quick time with both Brent and NatGas strengthening.

Should Viaro be forced to up their offer, I can not see it not starting with a '2'.

I can almost hear the chatter of Viaro representatives sounding out major holders prepared to vote against the offer, see how much is needed get them over the line.

Viaro clearly need RRE to be their foundation into the NSCS .... so question is, at what price ? Has to be close to CoH if nothing else.

Using conservative 30kboepd net production, Brent $45 and Gas 20.0p/therm (20/80)and all relevant hedging, atm SQZ are receiving $2.26m per week post OpEx ($12.60).

Think its the case all are fully loaded, unless a dip occurs of course.

RNS states and on the assumption the first tranche has been successfully taken up :

"A second Tranche of 7 million Subscription Shares (the "Second Tranche") will be subscribed for by SMC 10 trading days following the earlier of: (a) the date on which SMC has sold all the Subscription Shares subscribed for in the First Tranche; and (b) such other date as SMC and the Company agree....."

So ZIOC have the option to 'delay' the next tranche as we are in theory now OK for cash for the time being. If they do issue the next set, could this be to facilitate 'certain party/parties' are able to get their hands on shares in advance of 'possible' game changing news. Or simply, they now have sufficient cash for the task in hand so no need to issue for the time being.

So for me, the issue of tranche 2 is a buy signal.

We opened well down on the bell, 115p rest of my portfolio well up today, SQZ the only red. The algo has always been quick off the mark with the first trade of the morning which stabilized the SP... TODAY it had a massive sleep-in. ..... and the reason is ???

I don't think it's all about demand, more to do with the supply / demand ratio that will determine the barrel price. You can still make money on falling demand if the likes of BP et al are cutting exploration / drilling CapEx, market forces will come to the surface. FWIW, I do think BP's switch on emphasis has come at exactly the right time, although it will take many years for them to streamline their portfolio by disposing of high cost, low margin fields .... their call has been made and I'm sure it will prove to be the correct one.
