Jiffy bag,
I agree 100% about Conn and I wouldn’t be surprised if his departure is imminent and hopefully without compensation.
As for banning gas boilers, well we will see, the costs are about 3 times more than gas boilers to purchase and install, who will pay the subsidy. Fuel poverty will increase and where is this electricity goi g to come from? No new power stations, closure of existing power stations. Then there are electric cars. Billions of pounds to upgrade the network!!!!!
This proposal is for new homes and not legislation so likely to be fudged in my opinion, I would think localised Comined heat and power units and battery storage etc which Centrica are involved with I believe but we will see. There was an article about replacing methane with H2 recently in all the papers, well boilers can be converted but H2 as far as I’m aware is made from methane! Is a much smaller molecular size and not suitable to our methane or LNG networks, another unicorn nationally but possibly localised for new builds but an explosive range of 4-74% is difficult on safety grounds. Finally all existing homes will still be around and u likely to pay £6000 for a electric boiler and pay hundreds of pounds more each year. Philip Hammond is a moron and this consultation will prove it but he will shortly be ousted by Boris Johnson any way. Just my opinion
