The Prudential Regulation Authority (PRA) typically works in parallel with the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) rather than sequentially. For dual-regulated firms, both regulators often work towards the same statutory deadlines, meaning PRA approval does not generally wait until "after" FCA approval, but rather happens CONCURRENTLY.
For new bank and insurer authorisations, the PRA and FCA have a joint statutory deadline of six months to assess an application once it is deemed complete.
AlbaCo received conditional approval from the Prudential Regulation Authority (PRA) and the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) to be authorized as a UK deposit-taker (bank) August 27, 2025. The 2025 approval followed a five-year preparation period!
2nd March RNS: ""The signing of the £25 million regulatory capital subscription agreement marks a significant step towards AlbaCo receiving full authorisation. "
