It’s happening
The courier consortium will be a part of this, check out the RNS from DX. From 9th July confirming they are delivering home tests at the moment for the ISOS mori study. They are expanding into two new warehouses
So what’s the general consensus of the infrastructure around delivering these kits to u.k households? Do we think it will just be targeted approach in the beginning to key workers who request tests via website and then delivered by Royal Mail and Amazon followed by a more blanket approach of posting out to every household in the country? How many per house? Weekly? Monthly?
I’m curious to see how the government plans on achieving this without overloading existing postal services
Let’s keep it civil chaps, the government isn’t handling this particularly well and I think we can all agree on that.
There was a comment on this board a few days ago about how the members of this forum have probably put more thought and have a better insight to tackling this than the government advisors, I think this thread demonstrates that today!
Good discuss and I agree the dilution does reduce potential harm when compared to traditional products disposed of via household waste
Another point to consider is the biological waste expect of millions of Odx tests being used on a weekly basis and then disposed of how? Throw in the general waste? How will the average bin man feel having to potentially be exposed to hundreds of blood infected samples on their daily rounds.
I agree the Odx tests ticks many boxes and I’m heavily invested in here since April and echo your points and the government using mates companies as part of operation moonshot. My understanding is tests will be given to key workers initially on a weekly basis so while Royal Mail / Amazon can handle an extra 100,000 regular deliveries, once this reaches every household in the U.K. we are looking at millions of weekly deliveries.
Thanks for the update. With the courier consortium it’s also about maintaining the cold chain, ie samples which must be chilled before analysis which I believe the isos mori ones were. Obviously the Odx one doesn’t have this problem but i think a combined approach will be required to reach every U.K. household and while amazon could do a lot I don’t think they can do alone. Happy to discuss further and good luck to all holders
Has anyone considered how these home tests are going to be distributed to every household in the U.K?
I know a courier consortium was set up and RNS released from DX. On 9th July to distribute home Covid 19 tests as part of the ipsos MORI study, any thoughts on the U.K. using this network to distribute these kits? They have proven they can do this in the past
