Very strong statement from Mr Muhammad Fouzul Kabir Khan, power, energy and mineral resources adviser:

Fouzul Kabir Khan said Bangladesh must gradually shift towards renewable energy as dependence on imported LNG is becoming financially burdensome.

“Our future depends on solar and other renewable energy. We must ensure that no one can obstruct this transition," he said.

According to official documents, the committee considered proposals for solar plants in Fatikchhari, Pabna, Noakhali, Hathazari, Moulvibazar, Chakaria, Nilphamari, Ramu, Bibiyana, Mongla, and Hemayetpur, submitted by BPDB as part of the government's renewable energy expansion plan.

Now they are pushing for gas & other fossil fuel technologies. But local fisherfolk and farmers are standing up to stop fossil expansion.

Bristol Myers Squibb (BMS) has agreed to acquire CAR-T specialist Orbital Therapeutics for $1.5bn, adding several RNA-based therapies to the drugmaker’s portfolio.
