Nanoco either need a deal with Samsung or some more contracts. The market knows they're still relying on investors capital to keep going, and although the STmicro contract is a good contract but I don't think it's likely to be anywhere near enough to make the company a going concern.

A couple more similar contracts would underpin the company at least for the near term.

Nanoco worked with Samsung, not Hansol. Also as far as we know, Hansol dots are only used in Samsung products, so the only evidence of patent infringement can be found via that product.

Sadly I very much doubt it is Nanoco or Dow dots, as I would have expected that to be worthy of an RNS, but hope springs eternal.

According to this article, AUO are supplying Samsung with 8K QLED displays. If true, are they getting their dots from Hansol, Nanosys or someone else. I'd expect them to be cad free for a Samsung product.

From what I've observed the future for the vast majority of QD enhanced screens is LCD. At present sales of QD screens are only around 2-3% of the market, that will grow significantly in the next year or two, but it's still a tiny share.

QD enhanced LCD will really lift off once the price difference is within 25% of a plain LCD screen. They're almost there, especially if you don't mind buying last years model.

Miniled is still LCD, just with a fancier backlight. QNED is a break from LCD, but they'll be very expensive, and I wager they won't appear in 2021, maybe late 2022 if they're lucky. Samsung will undoubtedly blame covid 19 for delays, but my reckoning is they're nowhere near ready for mass production of a new display tech, and are simply trying to lure punters away from a large screen purchase from the cheaper Chinese OEM's- "hey, wait a few more months and they'll be THIS!"

I'd forget about QD enhanced display on mobile devices- I think they'll be using OLED until microLED becomes affordable (late 2020's?) or they sort out ELQD (+2030?) although maybe QD enhanced OLED if it improves battery life without adding bulk.

OLED not microled. Microled, if or when it appears will be on Apple Watch, Microled production is not ready for larger screens yet.

With regards to Samsung, they're looking at mini-LED not microLED for their next gen QD screens. They're behind the curve however- TCL have already beaten them to the punch (although Samsung own 10% of TCL, so even when they lose they win). Samsung are masters at blowing smoke in pundits eyes. I prefer to look at Display daily for information on future trends.

Unless it's a major holder of +3%, then there's no obligation to notify the market.

Judging by the way Samsung have behaved with other companies when caught stealing IP, and going by their behaviour until present, unless the judge rules to suspend sales- which I think is very unlikely,-I believe Samsung will let the legal action run its course, probably appeal against any decision made to further delay, then be tardy about payment.

That could easily soak up four years.

it's essential for any company to continue innovating to stay one step ahead of the competition. What Samsung have done by their alleged theft of Nanoco IP, is stymie the growth of Nanoco by depriving them of cash and kudos, so the damage goes far beyond simple sales cash.

In spite of all that, Nanoco managed to stay afloat, and continue to innovate but only barely and through dilution. Will it be enough, I don't know, and I think the present market value reflects that doubt.

QD-OLED uses about six times the amount of dots of QLED. Annual capacity estimated to be circa 3m screens, so more than entire QLED production to date.

I have a hunch that the display side of thing could turn out to be Apple, as there have been a number of reports in recent weeks that their next gen ipad and mac pro will be using AUO miniled, and I would suspect they would use QD's to enhance colour. Apple won't want to use cadmium.

I think anyone investing or extending their investment into Nanoco need to bear in mind that we are now over a year past the cancellation of the Apple contract, and in that time , only one additional commercialisation agreement has been inked, and any revenue from that is still over a year away if it materialises at all. Products can get cancelled at a late stage as we discovered all too well with the Apple iphone camera, so no guarantees.

If the case doesn't get settled out of court before about this time next year, and there isn't significant deals inked for revenue of around £6-7m per annum then the company will either have to restructure or seek further funds. So from an investment point of view, still significant risk short to medium term I think.

Had it not been for the Apple contract, which although didn't make it through to production did provide the company with some reasonably substantial income, we'd have been out of cash probably 12 months ago.

The Covid 19 crisis, whilst perhaps interfering with a potential sale of the company did permit a reduction of staff costs.

A potential ban on Samsung QLED sales in the US would almost certainly broker an agreeable deal, but my feeling is that is unlikely to happen.

I think the fund raise is there chiefly to satisfy the auditors- they lack sufficient cash to be signed off for the next financial year, and with no sales of significance in the next 12-16 months, assuming they materialise at all, it would have meant significant change to continue as a going concern.

I think there will be another more substantial fund raise unless they can drum up some significant business in the next year, or Samsung offer a satisfactory deal.

I listened to the interviews earlier this morning, and from what ME said, there doesn’t seem to be anything much extra on the table. It’s good to hear the sensor partnership with STmicro is progressing, however serious revenue from that isn’t expected until 2022, and the small display opportunities don’t sound like they’re going to bring in the £500-700k turnover Nanoco needs to keep going beyond Q2. So IMO still risk to short term, (e.g. the next 12-14 months) share price unless a deal between Samsung and Nanoco is settled out of court.
