I used to run approx 29 ton on UK roads with 3 axle unit and tri-axle trailers moving sheet steel.
The trucks shown last week were double drive units and four axle trailers probably running at a reduced speed (a bit like STGO in U.K.). 60t per truck is entirely possible but would need regular maintenance so let’s not say everything is BS until you’ve looked at the website of the trip company and see they move minerals around Africa on a daily basis.
You don’t was tandem or tri-axle trailers leaving land locked territories to the port as there no money to be made.
Let me honest, a 900km can be done with one ten hour drive and an hour the next morning here in the U.K. these will be on reduced speeds and can take perhaps three days. Look at the stuff the Aussies move across the outback…
