The roots of today's financial problems go back to 2008 and who was the chancellor then?
That is when LDIs became popular, during QE, to provide cover for the defined pension schemes, when bond yields were falling through the floor.

Trump you say is starting to find out who is in charge.
If the Republicans take the house in the mid terms it will not look to good for Biden either, 10% for the big man, and his son's laptop will be scrutinised and could lead to impeachment.

Do not mention certain things like how is it going in the EU.
It should be fantastic after all millions of EU workers left the UK (we were told) o return home, some 6 years ago, so their additional input into the EU economy should have kicked in by now. Taking into account the millions of immigrants who have also entered the EU to work hard and increase EU's GDP and make the people in the EU fantastically wealthy, well they also must have had a positive effect by now.
The same must go for the USA millions just walking in, they must have cut their national debt to zero by now !

Bring in more people serving coffee, which increases GDP but does that increase the per capita wealth, which pleases the politicians because it makes it look as if they are doing some fantastic job.
On immigration, your proposal is about immigration, for god's sake, and its further effects on the economy and society, some fools can't work that out. As I pointed out if you want to increase GDP in one swoop in the short term just lower the working age and extend the working age but that would not go down too well, or we could even go back to producing things. That would be a novel idea! build factories and make things, we once did it, you know.
Population growth DOES NOT IN ITSELF CREATE PER CAPITA WEALTH, but it does create problems.
Can you name two countries with a population of over 1 billion, give us the GDPs and tell us the per capita, numbers of those two nations? Now tell us the name of a European country with one of the world's highest GDPs and highest per capita and it has a population of around 660.000!

On old men contributing, well this old man still runs his little business, and my wife and I still pay tax, as we both have since the ages of 15yrs, that is 54 & 55 years each. And I would say most of the oldies on this board are still paying taxes.
When we peg it there will be some Inheritance tax going to the government so they can waste it.
To put things in perspective, when our son reached the age of forty, he had worked for 15yrs which would be par for his generation. By the time I had reached forty, I had worked 25yrs as most of my generation did, do we owe someone a debt of gratitude?

Put Idle old men back to work.
Well that is the intention, have you in your mummy's cellar not heard that they are putting the retirement age back and back and life expectancy is falling? soon there will be no retired old anyone, man or woman. Interesting fact Epro why did they make 65 the old retirement age when the average age then was around 49yrs?

You say bring in 1 million immigrants to pay tax, well most would be on the minimum wage and receiving tax credits, if they had children they would be receiving child allowance. Their children would need education and they would all need healthcare and pensions at some point in their lives. Go away and think things about it, and a nice 1 million will do the trick, who worked that figure out, Diane Abbot?
whybother.
Correct, make someone who has no idea of industry business secretary, Russia has a man with no military experience running a war, what could go wrong? Put someone who is a proven failure in charge of the Bank of England, what could go wrong? See the connection with failure, so many do not.

A certain Jack Straw said once he was out of politics of course, that letting in millions of EU migrants was a mistake.
Now he was a New-Labour Home Secretary!
Perhaps if we made things instead of relying on, foreigners working in the hospitality sector we would be better off.
As I said recently if you wish to grow the GDP without immigrants bring back child labour as they do in India, child labour there accounts for between 12&20% of its GDP. Or just make them leave school at 15yrs of age instead of further education and university.

If anyone who had run a successful business tried to get into politics they would fail, they would not be welcomed, too many of life's failures in politics who would not wish to be exposed for what they are. Imagine having a successful businessman as a Business secretary for example.

Just as I have been saying for some time.
Our standard of politicians is so low it is lamentable, they all could be cast from the same mould.
Intertribal bickering and hoping that the other lot drops themselves in the mire is all they can offer and all they can hope for. The Tories gained power because Labour after 13 years could no longer keep the charade up, now the Tories are following suit.
No party could win an election on their political drive, intelligence, or new vision, they just hope they will become lucky, and their good luck usually means bad luck for the country. All they talk about (as we on this board do) is the EU and GDP, but no ideas about how to improve either.

You ask what I see in a fox-hunting Marxist, well the fox-hunt supporting Marxist, was pro-Irish unification, which I agree with, as I have said before, the sooner we are shut off NI the better, let the republic have them. But they should be careful what they wish for.
She was also anti-EU and wanted firmer controls on immigration. And there are many Marxists in the Labour party right now. But anyone who reads a biography on Marx will see if they dare to, see the writings of a hypocrite when it came to work and money.
Frank Field was asked by Tony Blair to go and think about the unthinkable on welfare reform, and he did, and he ended up taking the flak, not Blair or Brown two more hypocrites, he obeyed orders and got shot at dawn.
There are many hidden Tories in the Labour party when it comes to making money! and many Liberals in the Tory party Boris to my mind was one and Truss crossed the floor to be a Tory!
Politicians are basically all cr-p self-serving hypocrites whose only aim is to get onto the gravy train and stay on it, they will come around once every five years to promise you the earth and then renege on that promise.
