Shift Work1 Feb 2019 11:54
My father worked for the PLA in the 1970's. He was a lock keeper at the KGV in the Royal Docks. They had 12 men per shift to bring the ships through the lock. Within the shift they had another shift, 4 would go home, 4 would go down the pub (would get a phone call when a ship arrived) and 4 would remain at the lock (normally sleeping until a ship arrived). Happy days. ATB
