Pre-Close trading update and Notice of Results iomart (AIM:IOM), the cloud computing company, today issues a pre-close trading update ahead of the announcement of the half yearly results for the six months to 30 September 2012. Group trading performance The Group has performed strongly with revenues and profits substantially ahead of the comparative period last year and consequently the Board is confident that the financial performance of the Group for the full year will be ahead of current consensus market expectations. The focus of the business continues to be on the provision of high quality and high margin managed solutions to SMEs and corporate clients. These contracts are typically for two to three years in length underpinning the Company's very high degree of visibility of its earnings for the coming year. Furthermore, clients are increasingly staying with iomart on contract renewal, underscoring the Company's established reputation as a market leader. 3i Infrastructure plc - Pre-close update 3i Infrastructure plc ("3i Infrastructure" or "the Company") announces its trading update ahead of the close period for the six months ending 30 September 2012. The data in this statement relates to the period from 1 April 2012 to 26 September 2012. Peter Sedgwick, Chairman of 3i Infrastructure, said: "The Company's European assets continue to perform well, while adverse macroeconomic conditions and foreign exchange movements continue to have a negative impact on the valuation of the 3i India Infrastructure Fund. The Investment Adviser continues to develop the pipeline of opportunities and has made good progress in the Thameslink transaction." Investment and realisation activity 3i Infrastructure invested £4.9 million in a portfolio of road BOT companies of Supreme Infrastructure India Limited through the 3i India Infrastructure Fund, a transaction described in more detail in the Company's latest Interim Management Statement, dated 10 July 2012. There was no realisation activity in the period, however the Company received proceeds of £6.6 million from Eversholt Rail Group from the partial repayment of a shareholder loan.

Canaccord Genuity maintained its "buy" rating for Majestic Wine (MJW) with a a 505p target price. The broker believes that the firm's first half will have been very volatile, due to contributions from the Diamond Jubilee, Euro 2012 and Olympics. Canaccord added, that the drinks retailer will have also benefited from the maturing of 28 stores, but that the poor weather conditions will have had an adverse effect. The broker noted that the group plans to open a further 16 stores over the next three years, expanding its estate by 30%.

Panmure Gordon reiterated its "sell" recommendation for Carnival (CCL), but with a slightly increased target price of 1,584p. The cruise company's third quarter earnings were 9% ahead of the broker's forecasts, at 153 cents (94.6p) per share, but Panmure maintained its view that it will take at least three years for the firm's net revenue yields to return to pre-Costa Concordia incident levels. On the broker's revised forecasts, the shares trade on a prospective earnings multiple of 19.3 times for the 2013 financial year, which it believes it too high for a company with growth prospects of just 6% per annum

Political tensions over the proposed merger of BAE Systems and EADS have been laid bare after Tom Enders came under pressure in the German parliament over the terms of the deal. Hans-Joachim Otto, Germany’s deputy economy minister, said it was “not just a question of how but whether” the £30bn tie-up should go ahead. Mr Otto is a member of the Bundestag economic affairs committee that questioned Mr Enders, the chief executive of EADS, about the deal. Particular concerns were raised about the proposed 60:40 ratio between EADS and BAE, the threat of German technology leaking from the country, and the nature of Germany’s “golden share” in the enlarged company. Mr Enders claimed the 60:40 ratio was “very fair” and also pledged that “what is in Germany, stays in Germany” in reference to EADS businesses already based in the country, such as defence division Cassidian, The Telegraph explains.
