Epione Swajal Solutions (ESSIL) to ink an Indo-US Contract in Energy Sector
03 June 2023
Epione Swajal Solutions (ESSIL), incubated at BITS Pilani, K K Birla Goa Campus and founded by Prof. Anirban Roy, Associate Professor, Department of Chemical Engineering inks an Indo-US Contract in Energy Sector for design of Membrane Based Direct Lithium Extraction (DLE) Pilot Plant.
NEXT-ChemX Corporation, USA (NCX), has developed a hollow fiber membrane-based technology that enables the continuous extraction, transfer and concentration of targeted metal ions (such as lithium) from large liquid volumes.
ESSIL has signed a contract to design and develop a pilot for direct lithium extraction for NCX to be deployed at Austin, Texas for testing real life brines from Bolivia, including projects in Argentina and Chile. The contract starts from June 2023. NCX has secured exclusive rights to use its proprietary and patent pending lithium technology in partnership with Clontarf Energy PLC, UK, in Bolivia.
CEO of NEXT-ChemX, Mr. Benton H Wilcoxon remarked: “I am very impressed with Professor Anirban Roy’s knowledge and experience in the engineering of practical applications of Membrane technology, as well as his former students and associates who demonstrate the key thing missing from most universities around the world. That is the excellence in “core chemical engineering”, that is so critical to the realization of actual tangible products and processes which enable real beneficial change and solutions that benefit people and society worldwide.”
Prof. Anirban Roy stated: “I hope we meet the expectations which NCX as entrusted upon us. This project should encourage Indian startups in Core engineering disciplines to make a mark in the International ecosystem”
Mr. Benton H Wilcoxon is an accomplished American entrepreneur with a world-class talent for integrating new materials technologies into revolutionary products. He has founded upwards of 10 companies to commercialize new products, most notably Ashurst Technology Ltd (Ashurst) and Composite Technology Corporation (CTC). Currently, his latest advanced technology company is NEXT-ChemX Corporation.
Prof. Anirban Roy is an Associate Professor in Department of Chemical Engineering with 11 patents filed, 2 US and 1 Indian Patent granted. He is the Director of Trumed Group (a 20 Mn INR entity) and founder of ESSIL. Prof. Roy’s current focus is on making ESSIL a leader in Membrane based solutions in Indian sub-continent.
