Roundtable Discussion; The Future of Mineral Sands. Watch the video here.
We know who reported you KL :-)
Brilliant KL :-)
Could be catastrophic for driift this, but also (potentially) damaging for all live streams at headline events going forward. Consumer confidence is going to be down. Cheers!
Not surprised - massive step up from recording new artists in their local pub
Could be right Lord. Hope so
This is what I said back in April FYI:
“Yes that’s right, but there is no mention of theatre. It could be that the existing Melody VR app is still used(separate to the new Napster app) just for theatre and maybe even managed by Gore & Co. just a wild thought as to why Gore has gone off the radar but presumably must still be keen to invest (beyond recouping his losses).
My view is that is that music streaming & VR has now back-seated Theatre and discussions are ongoing re what to do there. Gore must be primarily concerned with using the tech for theatre, but our resources won’t be able to stretch to music & theatre IMO. So, what does Gore do?! If I was him, I would license the tech, use and rename the Melody VR app to something Broadway related and then allow him to focus and manage the theatre side, all under the Naspster Group umbrella. Just thinking out loud mainly, in the knowledge that the day traders don’t work weekends.”
*said theatre
It still can be - they can have all said content on the Napster app, with or without links to the separate Melody app. The two could easily work in tandem. It may be that they want to free up space for day theatre productions solely on the Melody app, which wouldn’t be suitable for the Napster app
No it’s not tbh. If they are planning on relaunching both Napster and Melody when the new app is released that may explain it, but again we can only speculate.
… or maybe content from Napster and Melody will still be combined, as stated, but they’ll keep the Melody VR name and app as a secondary platform
Hi Dead - the AD does say that Melody and Napster would be combined into one app. I think it is clear from recent interviews that this has changed. Let’s hope we learn why and what the new strategy is soon!
Agreed BA - you’ve covered some of the ‘pros and cons’ alluded to in my earlier post. There are also tax and balance sheet benefits for having separate accounts in the UK and US
Yes I agree. Im all for keeping some company strategy private, away from competitors; but if we have moved away from the AD and previous notified strategy, we shouldn’t have to speculate to what degree. The outcome had better be epic to justify the silence is all I will say
Or they will use it solely for live VR performances for music and theatre etc (as suggested previously) and can then promote and advertise on the new Napster app. There are pros and cons for keeping Live VR content away from the new killer app, as well as having separate marketing teams for Napster and Melody.
…and I’m not surprised Bill P has gone as he was Mr Real Networks who we just bought Napster from!
But arguably Nikki L works for Melody VR not Napster / Rhapsody. The two companies are separate subsidiaries under the Napster Group holding
Is that a trick question Max?
Exactly Itilian - if Spotify are getting involved (at this late stage) then this is gratification that what we are doing is the way forward. They’re “dipping their toe in” as they don’t yet have the functionality of adding this to their App…. But we will… soon…
“ This is all being housed on a spotify.live website, and people will need a Spotify account to tune in. The shows will not be broadcast within Spotify’s apps, but rather through the web browser.
Spotify described this as “our most recent exploration” so it feels very much like a toe in the water at this point. The shows are prerecorded (as have been other Driift-organised events) but they will only be streamed live: no archive for later on-demand viewing.”
Doesn’t sound better than ‘live’ / VR performances (available to watch via an App) to me. I’m hoping our offering does more and is, well just better. No reason why it won’t be after all this time and the millions the IT crowd on here say it is allegedly costing.
I’m happy to piggy back on Spotify’s bottomless advertising funds if it increases user awareness.
I would rather no one highlighted the share investment on any of the social forums, other than those for investors. It’s embarrassingly desperate and dilutes the strength of positive posts, as people will just assume they’re from investors rather than users
