It's hard not to have different levels of corruption amongst oil producers in the third world, and Iraq is no different. Try Russia, where I invested many years ago. Yet, it came out very profitably to me. Got a house in France thanks to that.

There's not a chance we aren't make it out of the woods after Turkey took the decision to reinstate the pipeline. Both parties now are keen to have the oil to flow. As I mentioned below the arrears should be paid one way or another now. 1 billion is a lot for the IOC but peanuts to get the oil flowing. The issue is operational in my view. As I said, a call and a press of a button and the money hit the accounts.

My bets are all in for next week. Too many parties involved and the US wants this oil flowing, especially with OPEC holding tight on their exports and Russia putting some diplomatic pressure, i presume, with the visit Iraq officials to the Kremlin in the coming days.

Next week will be very interesting.

This decision follows his meeting with Mr. Alparslan Bayraktar, the Turkish Minister of Energy and Natural Resources, on Wednesday, October 4, 2023. Turkish technical teams have completed the technical and logistical procedures related to resuming the flow of Iraqi oil through the pipeline, and the matter is now in the hands of the Iraqi side.

In response, the Ambassador expressed the appreciation of the Iraqi government and people for this Turkish step and expressed Iraq’s readiness to resume oil exports as soon as possible. He emphasized that the resumption of oil exports would greatly enhance and strengthen Iraqi-Turkish relations in a manner that ensures the mutual interests of the two neighboring countries and achieve sustainable development"

Letters to operacional staff to return to duty: the oil must start flowing next week; there's too much at stake for it not to; the Iraqi government need the revenue and the political issue with Turkey has been resolved. A phone call and the pressing of a button is all that takes to transfer 1 billion. There is too much at stake for it not to happen now. I am in.

Having said that, the ball is with Bagdad and the Kurdish government now; pay the IOC what it's due and the oil will flow. It's in their interest to get the oil revenues. No one needs an insider to know that. Surely, now that the Turks opened the tap the pressure is on to get the revenues coming. Erdogan is supposed to visit Bagdad any day from now so fingers crossed. 1 billion isn't that much if you take into consideration what it means no oil flowing now. The biggest hurdle has been dealt with, the Turkish element.

Good news for GKP and I guess all their workers who should be able to resume their jobs soon.

Now that it seems both Turkey and Iraq have a political deal and the oil should start flowing, something no one here new when, it doesn't take a genius to guess where GPK share price will be.

I got in Friday at 98ish and 106p, so didn't have much to wait. Tomorrow I shall buy a few more (funds came in late today), so I have selfish reasons to want the SP to drop, if some nervous shareholders leave the train, but I welcome them. Yes, what's wrong taking a profit now? Thanks.

I suggest you read some of the work by the well respected professor John Mearsheimer, American political scientist, on how the west caused this war. For Russia it is a national security to protect its borders. I suggest you also watch Oliver Stone's The Putin Interviews, to get an glimpse of Russia's stance on this mess. At least one could try to balance the views and then come to a position on this situation.

I never thought I would one day agree with your posts, but you hit the nail on its head 100%.

Although some will be happy with 7 or even 10p by the way things are going, this will be an almost day-light robbery. We are worth much more than that. I understand if a takeover may happen sooner than we could have expected, some will be happy to sell. I am gutted as I wanted anything above 20p as a fair value but I can see it to take some time to get there.
I just feel a big boy is about to take away my lollipop. :0(

Maybe not to scare Russia (I don't think they can scare Russia - they are as tough as nails), but maybe it is to make the West population to think they are doing something whilst hoping the peace talks work soon and at the same time hoping Zelensky give the TV appearances a rest. Absolutely! So much logistically already in place, especially for gas where the UK pipeline is connected to Europe and Europe gets the gas from Russia.

I think Russia's sense of a threat from NATO's expansion to their national secure has now been put to a rest as Ukraine will not join NATO. The economic reasons of Ukraine's joining EU being detrimental to Russian interest is for another day.

As you said, once this is over, Europe wants what Russia has to offer and finding the same elsewhere will only make gas, oil, grains and minerals dearer. Will Smith slapping Chris Rock is already taking the headlines from the war as we speak, so who will remember RA as a shareholder in Evraz in a few days?
