LTI - Thanks for that number, I read that they intend to hold them in treasury and these may be used to satisfy various employee schemes or cancelled. But from last nights RNS I read the already hold over 1bn shares in treasury- seems a lot - an idea of the reasons for this.

Excellent sp reaction over at BT today - perhaps the sector will come back into favour.

No RNS - But judging by the volumes some may well have happened- reporting probably at 7am tomorrow.

HMG will milk this ride higher for as much as it can. The more it gets, the bigger the (vote winning) tax cuts it can give out. The business performance doe not (imo) support the crazy rise in the share price - and they do not want to attract the accusation of it being a share "giveaway"

George continues to dangle the carrot - the waste tip has been there for years, ALBA has had the necessary equipment on site to process the waste for a couple of years also. They need more money to keep the lights on, so beware.

The sole purpose of the Programme is to reduce share capital. Ordinary Shares acquired by Morgan Stanley will be subsequently repurchased by Vodafone, held as treasury shares and then either cancelled or allocated to employee share awards as they fall due.

I don't think that is an accurate comment - In the case of LLOY every previous buyback has resulted in the sp declining by the end of the process, to date with this one the sp has been on the rise - but will that last.

Encouraging - but as DU points out:

"there'll be even more Greta Thundertwats than ever by 2030"

Just read the highest paid director section - WOW - no wonder there has been no comment for months - it is clear now why one LTH has jumped ship - 2023 was a "transformational year" for the directors - not so for shareholders.

"Profitability of Lloyds currently is very healthy."

I'm sure the incoming labour government are aware of that.

I might add the NWG price has been driven up to accommodate the issue - ii also mentioned bonus shares for those retaining the shares allotted for over 12 months.

Ii has been emailing clients about the NWG issue, I have received several.

Based on the share price performance over the past 2/3 years 54p+ cannot be considered cheap, it is within a whisker of its highest recent level.

Thought the annual results might steady the ship, apparently not, our 10k seller has returned.

The comparative buy back periods have had vastly different market conditions:

In 2023 the buy backs commenced with the FTSE 100 index at 7907.92 by the 9th May it had fallen to 7764.09.

(highest closing high in 2023 was 8014.30 on 20th Feb 2023) By 7th July the index declined to its lowest level in 2023 at 7256.94 and the LLOY sp declined to circa 42p

In 2024 the buy backs commenced with the FTSE 100 index at 7706.28 by the 9th May it had risen to 8381.35

(The current level is a record closing high for the FTSE 100 and today is the 5th consecutive daily closing high)

I should add that did say the numbers include taking all dividends in shares - personally I bought LGEN pre COVID at 262p, bought more when COVID hit at 185p creating a 228p average - traded a couple of times between 280/295p - taking these "turns" and the dividends into account my average is now 161p not counting the divi due in June - LGEN is my best performing share.

From a Yahoo article:

£10,000 invested in Lloyds at an average 5.3% will give me an investment pot of £48,866 after 30 years. This would pay me £2,517 a year, or £210 a month in dividends.

£10,000 invested in Legal & General at an average 8.5% will give me £126,925 after 30 years. This would pay me £10,308 a year, or £859 a month!

Excellent post DU - sadly our vote grabbing politician lack common sense. I hope we all live long enough to see how this all pans out, Mrs MPO considers me a greedy b...ard for not grabbing the 300p+ that has been dangled on a few occasions, she even sleeps with her purse just in case I get any bright ideas.
