RE: Facing potential redundancy. SN pls come through.26 Jan 2025 11:08
SOAG canceling the tender process for B12 at the eleventh hour? Well, that is an interesting and significant development. I mean if our former Block has world class deposits in terms size and composition (I.e oil, gas & condensate) then why would there not be a long queue of interested companies? Sure, you could argue that politics played a big part in this process, especially if Georgia is perceived to be very close to mother-Russia, which has already been an impediment to them joining the EU.
As far as the value of the field data FRR holds on B12, well, that would only be worth what someone is prepared to pay for it. And presently there is nobody that holds the license so why pay for something that you can’t do any with? However, what is more alarming for me is that with the license terminated, the Georgian Govt has basically wiped the slate clean regarding the cost recovery pool which was attached to the oil sale proceeds, thereby freeing themselves of c.$300m+ cost recovery liability (and all it cost them was the arbitration fees).
So then the next question is, why did the GG cancel the tender process on B12? The optimist in me says perhaps there has been more communication between the State Dept and the GG, especially if the latest comms have been endorsed by the new incoming US President, having learnt the ill-treatment FRR received from the GD Party over the past decade. Remember the Americans take good care of one another and if it is perceived that a US company that has taken to the cleaners for investing over a half billion dollars in Georgia’s nascent O&G sector, then they will not take this ‘lying down’.
Having said all this, there more I think out our (shareholders) situation, the more vexed I become at SN. He has basically overseen the destruction of our money for his poor decision on people and operations. Let’s hope he can still absolve himself and rescue his troubled and distressed individual investors. Otherwise, may God never have mercy on his Soul. Harsh but fair (and that’s how I feel right now).
