Lost a few hundred quid but so sad for the staff and those that have booked ahead.
Bad decisions in the past buying My Travel and the co op chain leaving massive debt interest all compounded by Brexit etc
Sad to say sitting on a sunbed in Tenerife now having booked with Easyjet and the hotel direct we have saved hundreds of pounds
Said many times on this Forum that no one at TC seemed to be bothered that it was so easy to go on line and find much much cheaper prices with other ABTA protected companies
But still so sad
The CEO has promised today to get to the bottom of the sad deaths in the hotel It’s distressing to say this but I hope he ensures a UK pathologist goes out for the PM for the obvious reason It is only by this happening will the family receive the answers they need and again it is sad to say will customers faith in TC be slightly restored
This sad story continues with the preliminary doctors report saying the poor couple died from natural causes Since their daughter who was with them reports they were ok with no health issues before they left and with others reporting health issues at the hotel the story becomes quite awful and sad Not many will accept the natural causes verdict and with TC moving nearly 300 out of the hotel it can only knock the company backwards First thoughts must be for the family
Read a few days ago that the price would rise after Tc announced new animal welfare policy and cancelled trips to sea world and Loro Park Just shows what matters to investors TC is just a joke amongst competitors who are no doubt pleased TC internet prices for the same hotels flights etc has been more expensive for years (Just booked a hotel TC has on its website 32% cheapervwith another A BTA registered company) Suprised investors do not show effective displeasure at annual meetings Don’t suppose the Board cares as long as their salaries don’t drop As you can get imagine from above I am totally p......off with TC
Speaking to a fellow holiday maker in Tenerife who booked a package holiday with TC from Edinburgh Told later flight now with Easyjet and awful flight times compared to the TC original booked ones Only able to select seats 2 weeks before when sent a code to do so This holidaymaker will never book with TC again Anyone else heard of this underhand treatment by TC ??
Yes I agree although we have noticed a trend amongst Tenerife hotels to offer a price match guarantee on their own websites with freebies thrown in So it comes down to matching prices on many of the accommodation booking sites out there Would be interesting to see if the Fosun link up diverses into the well known European beach resorts
I cannot see these shares ever getting back to the 2.50/3.00 days until the company comes into the Modern era of internet selling Yes they have a loyal following for the package selling holiday but there are so many websites selling the same accommodation significantly cheaper First time bookers to a hotel may well buy a package for the protection it offers but having been to a good hotel the evidence is that they will look for cheaper prices for a return visit knowing they do not need the package protection where the hotel is concerned
Two hotels listed on their website are doing this Our good friend who is a Director of a 5 star in Tenerife laughed when I told him yesterday He at our suggestion introduced a no reserve sunbeds before 10am rule several years ago and guests love it Security goes around before 10am removing towels and items left and guests have to go to Reception to get them back Other local hotels have introduced a similar policy All I can do is feel sorry for whoever introduced this at TC because all they have to do is talk to their hotels and get a similar policy introduced
Thankyou
Anyone heard any developments Thanks
Good to see you back Harry and a Happy New Year Bl...y profit takers at it again and fear that's going to continue until TC goes under heaven forbid Thanks for the Lloyds advice, anymore always welcome as your posts are always informative and helpful
So glad to see you back HarryH as I virtually stopped visiting after you left as you posted relevant and helpful comments especially re the TC Board and not everyone had your informative perspective Hope you stay 😃😃😃😃
Totally agree but H even if you stood up at a Board or shareholders meeting and told them anything they could do they would not listen! They have their salaries probably shares bought cheaply and exhibit many signs of being brain dead where the future of TC is concerned
Even if they get the website to work effectively their accommodation only prices are still up to 20% higher than over 90% of other ABTA recognised sites on the web Like myself many friends trawl the web looking at accommodation only prices and none of us has booked a hotel through TC for the last 3 years And none of us have experienced any problems using other websites either ....just for those who are about to throw low costs failure in my direction !
Unfortunately there are many traditional older folk in the north that still pay in cash and it does not help when the agent tells the Booker they will save money paying with a debit card ( which is instant money for them with lower fees)and sadly they take the advice of the travel agent. So a little sympathy would not go amiss
Yes some good points but spare a thought for all those poor people who are on holiday and are having to pay their hotel bills where low cost has not paid the hotel and all those who had yet to travel and have not paid with a credit card( foolish I know) Moral of the story is always buy from an ABTA and ATOL registered companies and use your credit card especially if the company has like lowcost deviously moved out of the UK
Hopefully you are right You mentioned bookers going online and as I have said before more and more going online search prices and I am afraid despite being a good company you can get the same deal cheaper on several sites. We always look at TC three times a year when searching prices and an save 20% booking with another ABTA registered company.sad but true
Appreciate all the recent posts but a key element in sales has always been effective targeted marketing We have a small 5* hotel with a presence on Laterooms and booking.com We have seen bookings from Laterooms drop 80% in 12 months and those from booking.com increase by 85% despite at time offering discounts on our Laterooms prices! Many others locally report the same and we all put it down to booking.coms more effective targeted marketing not just in the media but frequent mails to past guests asking if they need a hotel this week or next etc etc It would not take much for TC to target previous and even new bookers through an email database which would be a first in the mass market industry At the same time they must be become more aware of past lost customers like ourselves who save 25%+ by trawling the net and booking flight and hotel separately (safe if you know/ can check the hotel out first) A recent trip to a TC travel agent only offered 5% discount on their advertised price and whilst I have been accused on the forum. Of being one of those bringing TC down reality kicks in when saving 20%! Past ownership in the retail sector taught us a small profit on a sale is better than none!
Joined this forum for informative information and not for all the petty comments we have had recently
Nothing wrong with TC buying seats form another if they do not fly to that destination and they make a profit! But of course they risk losing the customer to another cheaper company in trying to make the profit! Hopefully TC shops are well trained in offering different destinations to those who come in seeking destinations/ hotels that TC do not offer!
