I hear you and this used to be my view but JP was not able to track and graph stocks minute-by-minute nor collate news occurring all over the world. It seems like buying on the way up and selling before the top seems to be more profitable for most of the people here. That or a mixture of both strategies - to buy when others are selling and then sell when the tide turns, because the market tends to overreact in both directions. Either way, the exposure time, the investement or the ride is fairly brief. Investors don't, it seems, even need to understand the first thing about what the company does, just to be near the front of the herd (or plague of locusts, depending on your point of view).
