Averaging down is ok but only up to a point, and you have to know how close you are to support levels before you do it.
Better to average up is what most investors would say.

Likely to be more of a crude shortage than over-supply. Thats why the prices have climbed so high.

10 years ago I lived myself in Chiangmai in 3 star hotel costing £140 per month working remotely on UK wage. Used hire cars all the time lots of weekend trips and ate out twice a day for 2 people. Was spending just over £1000 per month. Tefal teachers living off of £500 pm wages, albeit living like locals.
Double the price down south in BKK and Phuket I know. Hospital costs in BKK are very steep and schooling too. But property prices are pretty reasonable even down south, but you can only buy a condo and even then you don't really 'own' it, and there is no point in owning it anyway, just get a 30 year lease and sublet it, simples.

Its pretty easy to retire in SEA to be fair. Seen many retirees went out to Hua Hin to live with only £200k. it can be done.
