I think it is good to hear opinions that differ from ones own and I really thought that was the whole point of the BB.
Lot's of people moan about buck and I don't always agree with him but in all fairness he does at least back up his views with some actual facts rather than a load of BS. I would rather somebody say you are wrong because of this article or these figures rather than just spout tomorrow this will be 15p, 50p or NK is doing a deal without anything to back it up.
Why? Because I always seem to get it wrong lately and today I finally gave up and are out at a loss I don't even want to think about.
I was involved in the travel industry for over 20 years (still have a small interest) and last time it was near collapse I looked at the figures and thought 'too big to fail' and was right. In 2018 due to it's business model I thought I can't see it still being in business by the end of 2019 but when the results came in and the sp plummeted I again thought 'too big to fail' so came back in and despite buying in to lower average just watched the money disappear day by day.
GLA that are still in and I may well be kicking myself in a few days for taking 10p in the £. Does at least mean I can reduce my average on SAGA and MTRO (boy can I pick them).
I might be naïve but I really don't understand how shorting using ALGOs is permitted.
As I understand it, if I was to place hundreds of sells or buys a day often for only a few shares at a time as an individual I would likely be accused of trying to manipulate the price yet it seems to me this is exactly what is now happening by the shorters but that is all ok and above board.
Selling high and buying low I understand, it's being able to almost control the price and walk it down that I don't understand
@dogger69 I sincerely hope you make a profit at 357 I've had to buy a load more to lower my average (now 317) and hope to get back some of the huge loss made on TCG so have fingers crossed for this to go a lot higher than 357.
TBH I am surprised some of the big players haven't jumped in at these prices when the recent placing was over subscribed at 500.
Hope your right Amers. I've got Metro (av 3.42) and £7 would cover my current loss on TCG
Just seen Kite Lake Capital increased short 0.25% on 12 August
Just seen the Turkish article on the UK edition of the Daily Sabah https://www.dailysabah.com/tourism/2019/08/10/after-recently-building-stake-turkish-tour-operator-now-reported-to-acquire-thomas-cook
Wonder if the British Press might pick up on this now rather than all the bad news?

"so a poster joins in May and says he wants to buy in lower and then casts doubt on the Turkish news story.
Games being played here"
Not playing games at all. I thought the web address looked a bit suspect and posted without proper research. Others have pointed out my error and I've said sorry.
Sorry all.
Looks like I should have done some more research about sabah before posting.
Don't mean to be negative but that web address with the .com.tr looks a bit suspect to me.
Just looked at https://www.dailysabah.com which seems to be the official site and is available in English and the article is not on that site

Many thanks for posting chart, very interesting
Good point Gareth, it's been a long day, so eager to reduce my average never gave a thought about the mms.
Honestly, been away for a few days and come back to this roller coaster and never had a chance to snap any more up towards the bottom.
If there is a TR1 tomorrow hope it's not published before lunch. Looking for a dip in the morning to try and bring my average down
2022 bonds are down, 2023 no change.

What you say makes good sense and I was thinking along similar lines, the way it was disclosed makes no sense if you were buying more.
Wish I could work out some logical reason for the buy in the first place.
I assume that means they still have plenty of unsold holidays even though they have reduced capacity.
kingsteve. Happy to be corrected but what would be the benefit to any of us to see what offers were on the table at this stage when the BOD are still in last ditch negotiations trying to prevent TCG going into admin.
As somebody who still has an involvemnet in the travel industry I am surprised that TCG is still in business but was still silly enough to think it would be bailed out again which may well mean i suffer the biggest loss I have ever experiencd in share trading. My current loss means I have no option but to stay in since taking 5p a share would now be pointless.
I don't think the BOD have done a good job of running the company and adapting to the changes in the marketplace but I feel they are now in a corner and will likely do whatever it takes to save the company. They have admitted that shareholders will take a massive hit but with the current debt levels and negative press coverage I honestly can't see what more they can do at this time to prevent admin. I am sure if the airline offers had been as expected we would be in a different situation but that is not the case, I very much doubt it is some conspiracy or underhanded dealing, it's just timing and where we are now.
The BOD have already said they will be in talks with the various stakeholders over the next few weeks so I would have thought it most unlikely there will be any real news until after they have taken place and they are in a position to move forward.
Whilst I think 30-40p is pie in the sky I can actually see the BOD talking about future share price since they have to sell the D4E swap to bondholders.
