Today, i-design reported its FY10 interims, which were in line with our expectations. The group has recently signed two atmAd contracts overseas and continues in discussions with additional ATM network owners. Management is seeing signs of sentiment improving in the banking sector. New advertisers have been added and the level of repeat bookings is steady. The company’s atmAd ‘available for thirdparty advertising’ estate now stands at 9,100, up from 5,600 at FY09 year-end.
FY10 interims in line
First half revenues came in at £0.91m, down from £1.38m, with around half of the decline due to the absence of software licence fees and the balance due to still constrained advertising budgets. However, new advertisers have been added and the level of repeat bookings is steady. Cost containment and a reduction of overhead
expenses mitigated the effect on gross profit (£0.1m) and pre-tax loss (£0.7m).
Building atmAd networks overseas; working on more UK
Over the past couple of months, i-design has added two atmAd contracts in overseas markets. In the US, the company has signed a multi-year exclusive contract with Cardtronics, the world’s largest non-bank owner of ATMs, to supply atmAd and third-party advertising across some 3,000 of its 33,700 ATMs. In South America via
channel partner Teller Service CIA, it has signed with a major bank in Ecuador to deploy atmAd across its network of 500 ATMs. These recently added ATMs are expected to come on stream in early FY11. The group continues in constructive discussions with additional ATM network owners, though it is difficult to predict how
soon major UK banks will refocus on the attractive ROI of the atmAd proposition.
Initiating FY10 base-line estimate
We are initiating a base-line FY10 estimate, which excludes any possible new atmAd licence fees during the remainder of the year, of £2.3m revenues, an unchanged loss before tax of £1.1m and year-end net cash of £0.4m.
Valuation: High potential sales growth still in prospect
We believe that i-design remains the sole platform independent provider worldwide that is able to facilitate ATM advertising, deliver third-party advertisers and run multinetwork advertising campaigns. As its atmAd licence estate expands, there is high media sales growth potential for i-design to move into sustainable profitability.
