Greatland Gold - My Story7 Oct 2021 23:27
I first heard about GGP back in 2010, completely by accident, as I had just made my first ever investment in a company called Rockhopper Exploration, who were just about to send a drill rig to the Falkland Islands with a very good chance of making a large oil discovery. To cut a long story short, I invested £2k at 63p and the share price went to £5.32, I made over £10k profit, and I was hooked. Someone on the RKH share chat message board happened to mention that they were also invested in GGP, and that they had tremendous potential. The share price was around 3.5p at the time, and I bought 10,000 shares. I bought/sold more over the next few years - a lot more when Newmont announced they were going to spend money at Ernest Giles at the share price went from 0.5p to as high as 2.5p and I had a profit of approx £72k. As any LTH's know, Newmont pulled out with no explanation for doing so, and the share price went back to 0.5p, and I lost all that profit, as I refused to sell. Then, I invested more heavily after the Havieron discovery, as well as when Newcrest came onboard as JV partner. I thought this is a no-brainer. I have recently added from 15.5p upwards in the last couple of weeks, currently holding 4,429,143 shares at an average of 3.7p, and although the peak was 38p, I always thought it may take time, but Havieron is going to become a mine. One of my trading philosophies is simple - short term pain for long term gain. So, the moral of my story is... If you believe that you're on to a winner, than invest as much as you can, but not more than you can afford to lose. You only get one chance in life, and this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to make a life-changing amount of money plus have the kind of lifestyle you have dreamed of. Also, it helps when you have very shareholders like Paddy Gall, Bamps etc whose knowledge is second-to-none. So many investors fail the golden rule of patience, and sell too early or buy too late. Even at the closing share price of 19.7p today, it's not too late to join the party! Slightly off topic, but another guaranteed winner in the short, medium and long term is Gfinity (GFIN) the growing esports company listed on AIM, which I'm heavily invested in and bought in at 1.65p - currently 4.5p, but DYOR and remember you heard it here first. I can't wait for the PFS announcement in the early hours of Tuesday, with the subsequent investor presentation by SD on at 9.30am on Tuesday morning, and I think that the decision has already been inferred in so many ways, that they've already made the decision to mine? For those who've been on the journey as long as me, and those just joining, enjoy the ride! GLA Greatlanders! Your patience is/will be well rewarded!
