Sputnik V could protect against virus for over 2 years - developer2 Feb 2021 14:22
The immunity from coronavirus induced by the Sputnik V vaccine, developed by the Gamaleya Research Institute of Epidemiology and Microbiology, could last for more than two years, the institute's Director Alexander Gintsburg said on Tuesday.
However, the matter is still "the subject of our further research," he told reporters at a press conference.
Commenting on the results of the Sputnik V trial published by The Lancet earlier in the day, Gintsburg noted that the vaccine's effectiveness was "approximately the same" across different age groups. "No serious complications were found among almost 30,000 subjects, except those minor side effects that were recorded in the first and second phases of the trial," he also specified.
