Industrial production in China increased by 35.1% in the first two months of the year compared to the same period in 2020, according to the country's National Bureau of Statistics. The figure came in slightly above expectations of around 32%.
The data released on Monday showed that the value added in the mining sector grew by 17.5% year-on-year, manufacturing was up by 39.5%, while electricity, heat power, gas and water rose by 19.8%. The value of equipment manufacturing and high-tech manufacturing grew by 59.9% and 49.2% respectively.

The United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention revealed on Saturday that over 135.7 million doses of the COVID-19 vaccine have been administered across the country to date.

Ireland's health authorities announced on Sunday that the use of AstraZeneca's COVID-19 vaccine has been temporarily halted in the country.
The announcement came after the country's National Immunisation Advisory Committee (NIAC) called for a temporary "deferral of the COVID-19 vaccine AstraZeneca vaccination programme" amid concerns of increased risk of thrombosis noticed after some inoculations in Norway.
The rollout of AstraZeneca's jab has already been halted in some European countries, while the United Kingdom and the company itself underlined that the vaccine is both safe and effective.
