I could have propane gas but you have to pay rental for their large tank and its much more expensive than oil heating.
But I've got a gas camping stove if I get a power cut.which happens quite a lot
.

What a well run energy supplier does is forward hedge for customers on fixed price contracts and buy in the market for the variable contracts

On the positive side
I dont use GAS as I'm in the countryside living at the end of a long lane so no GAS mains.
Fortunately bought 550 gallons of domestic heating oil a month ago and the current price is now increased by 15%. So I'm only exposed to electricity prices.
But the poor will freeze the winter especially with £20 a week being cut from universal credit.
