Grants of £5,000 sound pretty generous, and BEIS briefed journalists last night that they mean “people choosing to install a heat pump will pay a similar amount as if they were installing a traditional gas boiler.” Still and arm and a leg, then. Laura Bishop of the Ground Source Heat Pump Association told Carole Walker on Times Radio last night that installation can cost up to £20,000. It’s important to note that the government expects the cost of these heat pumps to come down over time, but it doesn’t sound like it’s going to be cheap either way. Tory MP Steve Baker tells the Mail’s Harriet Line and Jason Groves: “I am quite certain the cost has not been adequately considered.”

Using hydrogen gas instead of natural gas makes far more sense.
Existing gas boilers can then be changed for hydrogen boilers that are available now
Hydrogen boilers cost the same as existing boilers

Negatives not mentioned involving extra costs
Requires a 100 AMP fuse
and possibly an upgraded power cable to be reinstalled....costing the owner 7 grand
