Brexiteer hero Daniel Hammond stated on June 21, 201627 Dec 2021 17:40
"It's June 24th, 2025 and the UK is celebrating its annual Independence Day. As the fireworks pour through the not-yet-dark summer sky, we wonder why it took so long to break up. The years after the 2016 referendum have not just revitalized our economy, our democracy and our freedom, they improved relations with our neighbours.
The UK is now the leading knowledge economy in the region. We are global leaders in biotechnology, law, education, audiovisual, financial services and software. New industries have sprung up across the country, from 3D printing to self-driving cars. Older industries have also revived when energy prices have fallen back to global levels: steel, cement, paper, plastics and ceramics producers have become competitive again ......
In the first twelve months after the vote, the UK confirmed with the various countries that had trade agreements with the EU that the same agreements would continue. She also used this time to agree much more liberal terms with the states that had opposed EU protectionism, including India, China and Australia. These new treaties came into effect shortly after independence. Great Britain, like the EFTA states, now combines global free trade with full participation in EU markets ........
As we know everything turned out differently.
