I agree BP should be vulnerable at these sp and oil price.

Especially if it’s 50% undervalued to its peers as some say.

As that means you can buy BP sell the half you don’t want and keep the rest almost for free.

So why is there not any bid premium in the sp.

I’m guessing it’s because only Shell appears left to partner with, if Shell bid others would look as they would not want Shell getting their hands on BP too cheap.

I would think Murray’s ego would be easier to do a deal with, than Looneys ego ever would have been.

But the no take over story just rumbles on.

I just feel it was all doom and gloom, and I don’t think it’s as bad as was predicted,but there is still time for it to get worse.

It may just be another false dawn.

But so far demand Destruction is not the big story it was meant to be.

Even the oil market is not sure which future will be the right one

My guess would be the market still expects lower oil prices, so is pricing in lower earnings for BP( and Shell etc)

Meantime if oil remains at least at these levels BP will make lots of cash, with an added bonus that buybacks are also significantly cheaper

At some point ( although who has a clue when) this must come through to the sp.

You cannot keep buying back the company shares at the rate BP is doing without eventually moving earnings per share in a massive way.

I will just sit here and wait to have the last few thousand shares left when all the rest are bought back

Unless we get a major black swan event,the prospect of a long deep recession is becoming less and less.( but always expect the unexpected)

The only real threat to oil prices, is a cease fire in the Middle East,which will come at some time

I’m sure most on here would welcome it sooner, rather than later.

I have every faith OPEC will once again do a good job managing prices.

Fully expect US to do the usual circling the wagons and two fingers to the non US companies who are not happy.

It’s totally shocking how they have acted.

And if it was a European company doing it to a US company they would be sure to be upholding the law.

HOUSTON, Feb 21 (Reuters) - BP Plc (BP.L), opens new tab plans to return its 435,000 barrel-per-day Whiting, Indiana refinery, the largest in the U.S. Midwest, to full production in March, said people familiar with plant operations on Wednesday.

BP plans to begin restarting the refinery in the last week of February and bring refinery production to full in March, the sources said.

A BP spokesperson did not have information available on Wednesday about the refinery’s plans.

There is no substitute for good old common sense.

Although will admit there are some really clever people BP( or there used to be, so I assume there still are).

On more than one occasion have seen total lack of common sense, come very close to multiple serious injuries.This from degree educated employees.

So always take time to think,it’s never wasted.

I’m wondering if this has any significance to BP Rosneft.

Will it make Putin pause.
