An alternative hypothesis might be that many people don't trust the BoD to deliver. Their track record of consistently overpromising and underdelivering might account for that. However, we still have to accept that the members of the BoD have all got a lot of cash committed to the project and none have sold and there are other major shareholders who haven't sold either. In fact, all the major shareholders have proven to be very sticky. That must say something about their trust in AVO the technology.
No problem guys. For clarification, on 9/2/23 I bought AVO shares for 8.39p having previously had none. Early in the morning of 1/323 I bought more at 6.18p and set a stop loss on my whole holding at 20% below the sell price at the time of the 2nd purchase. Later that day I discovered that I didn't own a single AVO share because my stop loss had been activated and all my shares had been sold at 4.7p. I wasn't best pleased. I scraped together every spare penny I could find and bought back in that afternoon at 4.6p. As a result of that purchase I now have more AVO shares than I had before the stop loss was activated.
Vanilla. I take great comfort that only one or two of the BoD have ever, to my knowledge, sold any of their shares. Those who did only sold some. None have sold any of their shares in recent years and most of them have increased their shareholdings. It demonstrates their great faith in AVO and the technology. However, I still have reservations about their management of AVO. They've managed to do some strange things over the years, including a high profile announcement of several Chinese contracts when the then Prime Minister, David Cameron attended the contract signing ceremony in China. None of those contracts exist now and we'd be hard pressed to find any record of them outside of press releases that some veteran shareholders might still have. AVO had to pay back a large sum of money for those contracts when they reneged on them.it received for them. There have been other incidents, including their failure to complete their promised development of LIGHT and treat their first patient by 2018. They kept us all in the dark about that until the completion date had passed. I suspect that memories of those quite significant clangers that caused some shareholders considerable losses through having faith in the BoD's promises, are still having an effect on the sp.
For my part, I've returned to the fold because I believe that their current promises look as though they might actually be kept this time.
I've held AVO shares, on and off, since July 2016 when I paid 109.25p. I lost a bit over the years but not too much and not nearly as much as some who held on too long before selling. I bought my current tranche of investments this month for 4.6p.
I've bought back in now because I see its stupendous potential as getting close to beginning to be realised. The Harley Street Clinic seems almost complete and nearly ready for LIGHT to be installed. The first patient seems likely to be treated later this year. Now seemed to be as good a time to buy as any.
I share the opinions of others about the poor performance of the BoD and have no more idea than anyone else about what will happen from now on but I doubt if LIGHT will be allowed to fail, no matter what happens to the company.
AVO might be bought up by one of the big established companies who might be in a far better position to bring LIGHT to market. There could be a bidding war for it - that could benefit us - or AVO might survive and the existing BoD might somehow manage to do the job themselves. I'd prefer the latter as having the most potential benefit for existing shareholders.
Good luck to us all.
The potential use of proton therapy goes beyond treating cancers. It could replace x-ray imaging. The limiting factor has always been the cost and size of cyclotrons. For the right company with the right equipment such as LIGHT, or a smaller version of it, the potential market is mind bogglingly huge. Imagine a mini version of LIGHT in every GP's or dentist's clinic throughout the world, all bearing the AVO logo.
